Nancy Pelosi Calls Trump ‘Worst President in U.S. History’

Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) launched a fresh wave of attacks against President Donald Trump during a Wednesday appearance on CNN’s Inside Politics, accusing him of being both “the worst president for children in America’s history” and “the person who has lied to Congress more than anyone.”

Pelosi made the remarks during an interview with host Dana Bash, in which she was initially asked about California’s Proposition 50, a redistricting measure Democrats say is needed to counter Republican-led gerrymandering efforts. Before addressing the policy question, Pelosi pivoted to a harsh critique of President Trump.

“I want to declare, Donald Trump is the worst president for children in America’s history,” Pelosi said. “My ‘why’—why I got into politics—is for the children. Whether it’s the food they eat, the health care they have, the education they receive, the economic security of their families, or their safety from gun violence, he is the worst president for children in American history.”

Pelosi added that Trump’s record on environmental and social policies had left American families worse off, claiming that elections were crucial to reversing the “damage” she believes his administration caused.

Later in the same program, Pelosi took another swipe at Trump, this time over honesty and integrity in government. When asked about recent political controversies, Pelosi abruptly shifted the conversation to the former president’s credibility.

“There’s one point I want to make,” she said. “There is nobody who has lied more to Congress than Donald Trump, and that’s why I tore up his speech—because it was a manifesto of lies. I said that at the time.”

Pelosi was referring to the 2020 State of the Union address, during which she famously ripped up her copy of Trump’s prepared remarks moments after he finished speaking. Bash noted that Trump’s address was not delivered under oath, but Pelosi dismissed the distinction. “It doesn’t matter,” she insisted. “He’s the president of the United States speaking to the Congress of the United States.”

Pelosi’s renewed criticism underscores her continued role as one of Trump’s fiercest political adversaries. While President Trump focuses on implementing his second-term agenda, Pelosi has reemerged as a leading Democratic voice attempting to frame his policies as dangerous for American families and institutions.
