Newsom Floats 2028 Run

Governor Gavin Newsom (D-CA) suggested he may launch a 2028 presidential campaign following the 2026 midterms.

Speaking to CBS News Sunday Morning, the governor said, “Yeah, I’d be lying otherwise,” when asked about a potential run. “I’d just be lying. And I’m not — I can’t do that.”

Pressed further, Newsom stated, “I have no idea,” going on to explain that the “idea that a guy who got 960 on his SAT, that still struggles to read scripts, that was always in the back of the classroom, the idea that you would even throw that out is, in and of itself, extraordinary.” He added, “I’m looking forward to who presents themselves in 2028 and who meets that moment. And that’s the question for the American people.”

Newsom sparked presidential rumors upon joining South Carolina Democrats over the summer. “Governor Newsom leads the largest economy in America and the fourth largest in the world, and he’s coming to meet folks in towns that have been hollowed out by decades of Republican control,” said South Carolina Democratic Party Chair Christale Spain in July. “This is about building partnerships, uplifting communities, and showing rural voters they aren’t forgotten.”

“Our strategy isn’t about chasing cable news coverage, it’s about showing up and building trust, town by town, county by county, that is our path back to power,” Spain added. “We’re proud of the gains we are making but we’re even more focused on what’s ahead.”

Former Vice President Kamala Harris also suggested she may “possibly” be the first female president. “I am not done,” she told the BBC. “I have lived my entire career as a life of service and it’s in my bones.”

“If I listened to polls I would have not run for my first office, or my second office – and I certainly wouldn’t be sitting here,” Harris noted.

“Aún no he terminado”, dijo a la BBC.

Hakeem Jeffries Endorsement Sparks Outrage Over Socialist Ally

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) made headlines Friday with his Hakeem Jeffries endorsement of socialist New York City mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani—a move that has already divided Democrats and alarmed moderates. Jeffries told The New York Times he had “areas of principled disagreement” with Mamdani but said Democrats must “unify.” “In that spirit, I support him and the entire citywide Democratic ticket in the general election,” Jeffries wrote.

The Hakeem Jeffries endorsement follows months of pressure from progressives who threatened to primary establishment Democrats reluctant to back Mamdani. The candidate’s far-left platform includes a $30 minimum wage, rent freezes, and government-run grocery stores. Jeffries had previously questioned Mamdani’s history of anti-Semitic rhetoric, criticizing him in July for defending the slogan “globalize the intifada.”

Mamdani’s rise has shaken New York’s Democratic establishment. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer has withheld his endorsement, while state party chairman Jay Jacobs flatly refused to back Mamdani. Governor Kathy Hochul, who reluctantly endorsed him last month, has since seen her approval ratings drop—especially after polls showed Republican challenger Elise Stefanik gaining an edge.

Democrats remain deeply divided heading into next year’s midterms. As Politico noted before the announcement, “The long-awaited nod from Jeffries is certain to prove divisive in the fractured party as it seeks a path out of the political wilderness.”

New AI Fighter Jet Transforms Warfighting

U.S. defense technology company Shield AI has developed an AI-piloted fighter jet called X-BAT, designed to operate autonomously.

“At Shield AI, we believe the greatest victory requires no war. To make that belief real, we’re executing a simple but ambitious master plan: prove the value of autonomy, scale it across domains, and reimagine airpower,” said former Navy SEAL Brandon Tseng, Shield AI co-founder and president. “X-BAT represents the next part of that plan, expanding U.S. and allied warfighting capacity through a transformative, runway-independent aircraft. Airpower without runways is the holy grail of deterrence. It gives our forces persistence, reach, and survivability, and it buys diplomacy another day.”

The AI software, called Hivemind, allows the jet to “autonomously penetrate contested battlespace, dynamically team with manned aircraft, and execute collaborative tactics without constant communications,” the company explained.

Fox News reports that the X-BAT will be combat-ready by 2029. Shield AI’s senior vice president of aircraft, Armor Harris, told the outlet that the fighter jet “presents an asymmetric dilemma to an adversary like China.”

“They don’t know where it’s coming from, and the cost of countering it is high,” he said. “It’s an important part of a broader joint force that becomes significantly more lethal.”

Harris noted that China has developed an “anti-access aerial denial bubble that holds our runways at risk.” The new aircraft, however, thwarts this plan.

Meanwhile, Israel is on track to deploy one of the first combat-ready laser air-defense systems, according to reports. The system, called the Iron Beam, is capable of combating rockets, drones, and mortars with light.

Politico Reporter Exposed in Explosive Chinese Spy Investigation

European authorities have launched a sweeping Chinese spy investigation into a former Politico reporter accused of using journalism as cover to infiltrate international institutions in Brussels. The reporter, whose name has not been released, “is suspected of using their position as a journalist to cultivate potential targets working in Brussels-based international organisations, including by making sexual overtures towards officials in these institutions,” according to officials cited by Euractiv.

It remains unclear whether the reporter’s exit from Politico was linked to the espionage probe. A Politico spokesman said European authorities have not contacted the company and that it “does not comment on personnel departures as these are confidential personnel matters.”

The Chinese spy investigation underscores growing concern about Beijing’s espionage network in the West. In August, a U.S. Navy sailor, Jinchao Wei, was convicted for agreeing “to sell Navy secrets to a Chinese intelligence officer for $12,000,” the Justice Department revealed. Other recent cases include two Chinese citizens charged for recruiting U.S. military personnel and twelve nationals accused in March of orchestrating a cyber-espionage campaign against U.S. government systems.

Across Europe, similar threats have emerged. Belgian officials recently arrested a police officer suspected of spying for China and Russia, while in Germany, a former aide to a European Parliament member received nearly five years in prison for passing sensitive information to Beijing.

Anti-Israel Journalist Scandal Rocks THE CITY Newsroom

A growing anti-Israel journalist scandal has erupted at THE CITY, a New York news nonprofit celebrated as a model for “independent, ethical reporting.” Newly uncovered records reveal that staff journalist Marina Samuel previously organized events with members of terrorist groups and solicited funds for a Hamas-linked organization.

Samuel, now a data fellow at THE CITY, helped lead a “teach-in” last year for the Bronx Anti-War Coalition, where she praised Hamas’s “guerrilla warfare” and asked donors to send “paper checks” to Samidoun, a group the U.S. and several allies have linked to terrorism. “Thank you for highlighting the importance of guerrilla warfare as the chosen tactic against an occupying force,” Samuel said during the event.

The Bronx Anti-War Coalition held vigils for Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar and defended Elias Rodriguez’s alleged assassination of two Israeli diplomats as “morally righteous” and “fully justified.” During the same forum, sanctioned fundraiser Khaled Barakat called armed resistance “a strategic path for the Palestinian people.”

Samuel acknowledged her role in the group, telling the Free Beacon, “My prior involvement with the group is completely unrelated to my work as a journalist.” THE CITY’s editor Richard Kim said he “was not aware of Samuel’s affiliation” but defended her work.

The controversy has put THE CITY—funded by pro-Israel charities including the Leon Levy Foundation and Len Blavatnik’s family fund—under intense scrutiny as donors question how a journalist with extremist ties was hired.

Trump Begged to Confront Christian Massacre

A letter signed by religious freedom groups and a former member of Congress urges the Trump administration to take action on the massacre of Christians in Nigeria. The letter pleads for the administration to designate Nigeria as a Country of Particular Concern (CPC) as President Trump did during his first presidential term.

According to the letter, dated October 15, the Nigerian government is “directly violating religious freedom by enforcing Islamic blasphemy laws that carry the death penalty and harsh prison sentences against citizens of various religions. It also demonstrably tolerates relentless aggression uniquely against Christian farming families by militant Fulani Muslim herders, who appear intent on forcibly Islamizing the Middle Belt.”

The letter goes on to detail Fulani Muslim herders “massacring families, burning homes and harvests, and driving millions of Christians from their ancestral lands.”

Signatories expressed their concern that the Trump administration is “considering listing Nigeria on the IRF Act’s ‘Special Watch List’ instead of  designating it as a CPC.” They explained that if this is the case, “this may stem from a misconception that CPC designation would require the United States to isolate or sanction Nigeria.”

Those signing the letter include former member of U.S. Congress Frank Wolf, Focus on the Family President and CEO Jim Daly, Family Research Council President Tony Perkins, National Religious Broadcasters President and CEO Troy Miller, Concerned Women for America President and CEO Penny Nance, The Heritage Foundation Vice President of Domestic Policy and The Joseph C. and Elizabeth A. Anderlik Fellow Roger Severino, and others.

Several U.S. Senators have also sent a letter to Secretary of State Marco Rubio, urging him to take action on the “continued unchecked acts of violence and terrorism against religious minorities perpetrated by nonstate actors in Nigeria.” Senators behind the letter include Ted Budd, Pete Ricketts, Josh Hawley, Ted Cruz, and James Lankford.

Jasmine Crockett Stock Scandal Undermines Progressive Image

Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) is under fire for failing to disclose ownership of at least 25 stocks during her 2022 congressional campaign and after taking office in 2023. The scandal has raised ethics concerns and questions about hypocrisy from a lawmaker who brands herself as a progressive crusader for transparency and environmental justice.

According to public records obtained by the Washington Free Beacon, Crockett quietly admitted to holding the stocks while serving in the Texas legislature in 2021 but omitted them from her federal disclosure the following year. The undisclosed assets included stakes in Amazon, Johnson & Johnson, AstraZeneca, ExxonMobil, and Aurora Cannabis—companies directly tied to industries she has publicly criticized or sought to regulate.

“Personal financial disclosure rules are in place to make sure Members of Congress do not engage in conflicts of interest while working for the American people,” said Caitlin Sutherland, executive director of Americans for Public Trust. “The concerns surrounding the extreme discrepancies between Representative Crockett’s state and federal financial disclosures are certainly legitimate.”

Crockett, who once called climate change an “existential crisis,” owned stock in ExxonMobil and other fossil fuel companies. She also pushed marijuana decriminalization legislation while having ties to Black Diamond Investments, a cannabis firm that tried to open dispensaries in Ohio.

If proven, Crockett’s undisclosed assets and debts—at least $110,000 according to state filings—could trigger penalties for improper reporting.
