Ford CEO Praises Trump Tariffs

On CNBC’s Squawk Box, Ford CEO Jim Farley applauded President Trump’s proposed 25 percent tariff on heavy‑duty trucks, calling it an opportunity to level the playing field for American manufacturers. He acknowledged, however, that parts tariffs—ranging from 25 to 70 percent—create a major “headwind” for Ford, adding roughly $2 billion in costs. Farley expressed optimism that solutions are within reach through ongoing negotiations with the administration.

Farley told co‑host Andrew Ross Sorkin the administration’s 232 investigation into heavy‑duty truck imports matters greatly to Ford, noting that Ford and PACCAR manufacture their large trucks largely in the U.S. He argued that a 25 percent tariff on imported heavy trucks would be “a really big deal” in favor of domestic producers. At the same time, he highlighted that many crucial internal parts—those not made in the U.S.—are now hit with steep tariffs, undermining Ford’s ability to invest and compete.

The CEO framed those parts tariffs as a $2 billion drag on Ford’s investment budget, but he emphasized active collaboration with the White House. “They’ve been incredibly open on solutioning around that,” Farley said, adding that he is “very optimistic we’ll find a solution” to ease the burden. He stressed that about 20 to 30 percent of Ford’s internal components must be imported to maintain affordability, and they must do so without “huge tariffs.”

Farley said the path forward lies in flexibility—importing certain parts under favorable conditions so the final vehicles built in America remain competitive in cost. He echoed that the administration’s openness to negotiation gives him confidence, although “a lot more work remains to be done.”

DNC Chair Calls Trump Admin ‘Fascist Regime’

Democratic National Committee Chair Ken Martin told former DNC Chair Jaime Harrison that the 2026 elections are critical for the Democratic Party as they aim to confront what he said is a “fascist regime.”

“When we get into power next time, we [explicit] well better make sure that D.C. is a state, that Puerto Rico is a state, that we eliminate the filibuster rule, right?” he said on an appearance in Harrison’s podcast, “At Our Table.”

“We get rid of all these antiquated rules that sure in the past made sense, but right now, with what we’re dealing with in this country, and we have a fascist regime, trying to destroy our democracy, we cannot abide by those rules anymore. We can’t be the only party with one hand tied behind our back,” Martin declared. “When we get in power – and we will get in power – we’re going to win in ’26, we’re going to win in ’25, and when we are in power we don’t play by that antiquated playbook anymore. We go in there and do exactly what we want and what we said we were going to do to fight for people.”

“If we are not willing to fight when everything we stand for in this country is under assault, then everything is at stake. If we don’t win in ’26 and we give this fascist regime an unimpeded path of power for the next four years, everything we value, everything we care about, will be lost. And it’s not me being hyperbolic,” he said.

Martin made similar comments in August, where he asserted, “Democrats, make no mistake, a storm is coming. In fact, it’s already here. Rising inequality, attacks on democracy, voter suppression, and a fascist regime that doesn’t play by the rules.”

Trump Unveils Drug Cost-Cutting Deal with Pfizer

President Donald Trump announced that his administration reached a deal with Pfizer as part of an effort to reduce pharmaceutical prices.

A White House fact sheet explains the agreement will provide “every State Medicaid program in the country access to [most-favored-nation] drug prices on Pfizer products” and “ensures foreign nations can no longer use price controls to freeride on American innovation by guaranteeing MFN prices on all new innovative medicines Pfizer brings to market.”

Pfizer will also “repatriate increased foreign revenue on existing products that Pfizer realizes as a result of the President’s strong America First U.S. trade policies for the benefit of American patients,” the fact sheet notes. The pharmaceutical company will further offer medicines at a discount off the list price when selling directly to U.S. patients.

President Trump said of the deal: “Pfizer has agreed to provide some of the most popular current medications to our consumers at heavily discounted prices anywhere between 50% and even 100%.”

A forthcoming government website, called TrumpRx, will provide lower drug prices directly to Americans.

“We are proud to join President Trump at the White House to celebrate this landmark agreement that is a win for American patients, a win for American leadership, and a win for Pfizer,” Pfizer CEO Albert Bourla said in a statement. “By working closely with the Administration, we are lowering costs for patients and enabling greater investment in the U.S. biopharmaceutical ecosystem by ending the days when American families alone carried the global burden of paying for innovation. This is about putting all patients first and ensuring America remains the world’s leading engine of medical breakthroughs.”

“We now have the certainty and stability we need on two critical fronts, tariffs and pricing, that have suppressed the industry’s valuations to historic lows,” he continued.

The deal expands upon Trump’s May executive order declaring that “Americans should not be forced to subsidize low-cost prescription drugs and biologics in other developed countries, and face overcharges for the same products in the United States.”

Americans should “have access to the most-favored-nation price for these products,” the order explains. “My Administration will take immediate steps to end global freeloading and, should drug manufacturers fail to offer American consumers the most-favored-nation lowest price, my Administration will take additional aggressive action.”

Oklahoma Purges Illegal Drivers in Safety Crackdown

Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt (R) announced that the state arrested nearly 130 illegal immigrant truck drivers in a state-wide operation.

Drivers from India, Uzbekistan, China, Russia, Georgia, Turkey, Tajikistan, Ukraine, and Mauritania were arrested.

Oklahoma Corporation Commission (OCC) Chair Kim David stated that Oklahomans “deserve safe highways.”

“We appreciate the opportunity to assist ICE and DPS Troop S by removing non-compliant and dangerous drivers from our roads. By working together as law enforcement partners, we’re reducing risks for every driver,” David said.

Commissioner Brian Bingman said of the action, “There are legitimate concerns with illegal immigrants obtaining [commercial driver’s licenses] in other jurisdictions. The inability to read road signs written in English will lead to accidents. This negligence creates risk for Oklahoma’s drivers.”

Stitt shared the results of the operation in a social media statement, explaining that the state “performed an enforcement action along I-40 and apprehended 125 illegal immigrants.” He compared Oklahoma’s action to that of New York, which provided commercial driver’s licenses to illegal immigrants labeled as “No Name Given.”

The enforcement action aligns with a recent directive by Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy, who directed the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) to audit all states’ issuance of non‑domiciled CDLs.

New rules require that CDL applicants provide an unexpired foreign passport and valid work visa, and licenses must expire no later than the driver’s legal status in the U.S. Those in the country illegally are no longer eligible.

President Trump has also ordered that truckers be fluent in English. Truckers “should be able to read and understand traffic signs, communicate with traffic safety, border patrol, agricultural checkpoints, and cargo weight-limit station officers,” the order states. “Drivers need to provide feedback to their employers and customers and receive related directions in English. This is common sense.”

DOJ Targets Minnesota’s Sanctuary Status

The Department of Justice is going after Minnesota’s sanctuary policies in a new lawsuit, arguing that the state is defying federal law and undermining law enforcement.

“Minnesota officials are jeopardizing the safety of their own citizens by allowing illegal aliens to circumvent the legal process,” said Attorney General Pam Bondi. “This Department of Justice will continue to bring litigation against any jurisdiction that uses sanctuary policies to defy federal law and undermine law enforcement.”

According to the DOJ, Minnesota’s, Minneapolis’, St. Paul’s, and Hennepin County’s refusal to cooperate with federal immigration officials enable the “release of dangerous criminals from police custody who would otherwise be subject to removal, including illegal aliens convicted of aggravated assault, burglary, and drug and human trafficking, onto the streets.”

Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey said the city “will not back down” and will “fight with all our strength for our immigrant neighbors, and like every time we’ve faced Donald Trump in court, we will win.”

Similarly, St. Paul Mayor Melvin Carter declared that city employees “don’t work for the president, we work for the people who live here.”

The lawsuit states that Governor Tim Walz (D) has “reaffirmed and celebrated that Minnesota and various localities within the state intend to continue obstructing federal immigration enforcement, allowing criminals in their jurisdictions to be released into American communities despite known dangerous consequences.”

“The challenged laws are not a mere passive effort to avoid providing state resources to Federal officials but rather are an active and deliberate effort to obstruct federal immigration enforcement by, among other things, impeding the communication between federal and local law enforcement that keeps Americans safe,” the filing adds.

In April, President Trump signed an executive order directing federal authorities to “restore the enforcement of United States law,” establishing appropriate consequences for areas with sanctuary status.

NYT’s Nikole Hannah-Jones Faces Backlash Over Vile False Charlie Kirk Smear

Controversy regarding New York Times correspondent Nikole Hannah-Jones has ignited after she used a misleading quotation to portray slain conservative activist Charlie Kirk as racist. In her Sunday column, Hannah-Jones lamented the widespread mourning of Kirk, writing, “It was unsettling to many to see politicians from across the political spectrum speak with reverence about [Kirk].”

Hannah-Jones quoted Oklahoma resident Dominic Durant, who told his daughter that Kirk believed she lacked “the brain processing power.” In reality, Kirk had criticized four prominent Democrats—Ketanji Brown Jackson, Michelle Obama, Joy Reid, and Sheila Jackson Lee—arguing they had admitted to being “affirmative action picks” and lacked “the brain processing power to otherwise be taken really seriously.”

The New York Times journalist, best known for the “1619 Project,” has long faced scrutiny for historical inaccuracies. She defended her use of Durant’s remarks, insisting, “The quote is exact and you know it. Durant extrapolated what he felt from that. His feeling is also not false.” But critics said she deliberately blurred fact and narrative. Reporter Jerry Dunleavy charged, “You wanted so badly to use the fake viral quote of what Charlie didn’t actually say but you couldn’t, so you back doored the false sentiment into your story.”

Kirk, the Turning Point USA founder, was assassinated in Utah on September 10. Police said suspect Tyler Robinson “clearly” had a “leftist ideology.”

Duffy Celebrates Return of Jesus Painting

Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy announced that a painting removed by the Biden administration has returned.

The “Christ on the Water” painting’s return was celebrated in an unveiling ceremony. It had been hung for nearly 80 years in the Elliot M. See Room of Wiley Hall at the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA) before being removed in 2023.

“Burying this historic painting in the basement wasn’t just a mistake—it was an insult to the faith and legacy of service that built this Academy and our nation,” said Duffy. “By restoring ‘Christ on the Water’ to its rightful place, we sent a clear message to our midshipmen: their Christian faith is a virtue to be proud of, not something to be censored.”

“I want to thank Secretary Duffy for his continued support of our Academy and the midshipmen who call this place home,” U.S. Merchant Marine Academy Acting Superintendent Captain Tony Ceraolo stated. “Our purpose today is to preserve a piece of the Academy’s cultural and historical legacy. We honor the past and the resilience of those who came before us. This painting is about history, remembrance, and hope ensuring that the story of our midshipmen and their wartime experiences remain part of our shared institutional memory.”

The painting, also called “Jesus and Lifeboat,” was painted in 1944 by marine artist LT Hunter Wood. The artwork serves as a tribute to merchant seamen, “especially to cadet-midshipmen who had been torpedoed during World War II,” the Transportation Department explained.

Duffy announced his intention to return the painting in May, saying, “We are moving Jesus out of the basement. To all the great midshipmen at the Merchant Marine Academy, you let me know how important this painting was to all of you. Now we all know it was taken out of a place of prominence and put in down in the basement.”

“I worked with the Academy and because this is such a historic painting, I’m announcing that through that work with the Academy, this painting is going to go from the basement back to its place of prominence,” Duffy declared, adding that the picture’s reinstatement would be a “moment to celebrate.”
