New Mom’s Los Feliz Murder Exposes Dangers of Online Romance Gone Wrong

The shocking murder of a Scottish woman in Los Feliz, CA who moved 5,000 miles for love is raising tough questions about online romance, domestic violence, and the breakdown of traditional safeguards that once helped protect young women.

Police say June Bunyan, 37, was dismembered by her husband, Jonathan Renteria, 25, inside their Los Feliz apartment — just months after she gave birth to their first child. Authorities found her remains in multiple body bags after Renteria allegedly confessed in a suicide note. “The first body bag that came down … I said that’s not all of her. And then came another bag and that’s when I knew that she was not in one piece,” neighbor Arielle Miller told KTLA.

Bunyan moved from Scotland to California about 18 months ago after meeting Renteria on X (formerly Twitter). Friends say she dreamed of becoming an attorney to help the vulnerable, but that dream was cut short by a man who allegedly turned cruel once she became a mother. Miller recalled Bunyan saying she had “never seen him so nasty before.”

While her baby was found unharmed, Bunyan’s death is a grim reminder that behind the hashtags and social media “love stories,” real evil still lurks.

Walmart Removing Dyes from Products

Walmart announced that it will remove synthetic dyes from its products.

Along with dyes, Walmart will also eliminate the use of 30 other ingredients, including some preservatives, artificial sweeteners, and fat substitutes. The shift affects products under the brands of Great Value, Marketside, Freshness Guaranteed, and Bettergoods.

The transition will occur over the coming months and will be fulfilled by January 2027 at the latest.

“Our customers have told us that they want products made with simpler, more familiar ingredients — and we’ve listened,” said Walmart President and CEO John Furner. By eliminating synthetic dyes and other ingredients, we’re reinforcing our promise to deliver affordable food that families can feel good about.”

“This commitment demonstrates how Walmart is responding to changing customer preferences, while also setting the standard for providing exceptional quality and innovation at an outstanding value,” Furner added.

The Food and Drug Administration has approved several natural alternatives to synthetic dyes. In July, the FDA approved a petition to use gardenia (genipin) blue as a food dye and is expected to be used in “sports drinks, flavored or enhanced non-carbonated water, fruit drinks and ades, ready-to-drink teas, hard candy, and soft candy,” the agency explained at the time.

In May, the FDA approved the use of Galdieria extract blue, butterfly pea flower extract, and calcium phosphate as color alternatives. Galdieria is a color derived from the red algae Galdieria sulphuraria, to be used in beverages, coatings, and dessert products; butterfly pea flower extract is a blue color is to be used in beverages, dairy products, tea, potato chips, and snack mixes; and calcium phosphate is a white color to be used in chicken products, candy, and sugar coatings.

Missouri Deploys National Guard to Assist ICE

Missouri Gov. Mike Kehoe (R) authorized National Guard troops to assist in immigration enforcement activities in the state.

“Public safety, keeping Missourians safe, and upholding the rule of law is our administration’s top priority,” said Kehoe. “The Missouri National Guard is uniquely equipped to provide this essential administrative support, and we are confident their contributions will be invaluable to immigration enforcement efforts. Missouri is proud to join in the Trump administration’s efforts to keep our state and nation secure.”

Beginning October 1, Missouri’s National Guard service members will provide assistance in tasks such as “data entry, case management, and logistical support, enabling ICE personnel to focus on core enforcement and security functions,” a statement from Kehoe’s office explains.

His office noted that Secretary of War Pete Hegseth approved the duty status of Department of War military personnel supporting ICE processing facilities, allowing Title 32 duty status, a federally funded status under the authority of the governor.

Kansas City, Missouri, Mayor Quinton Lucas condemned the move, claiming the “greatest safety challenge” residents of the state face is “crime committed in almost in all cases by Missouri-born perpetrators against Missouri-born victims.”

“Using the brave women and men of our National Guard as paper pushers and case managers at immigration facilities undermines their mission and the law, directs them away from the important storm-response and local public safety efforts Missourians care about, and marks another example of Missouri public policy operating for the interests of Washington elites rather than every day Missourians,” Lucas said.

Anti-Defamation League Pulls ‘Glossary of Extremism’

The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) pulled its “Glossary of Extremism and Hate” following widespread conservative backlash in the aftermath of Charlie Kirk’s death.

“With over 1,000 entries written over many years, the ADL Glossary of Extremism has served as a source of high-level information on a wide range of topics for years,” the ADL wrote on social media. “At the same time, an increasing number of entries in the Glossary were outdated. We also saw a number of entries intentionally misrepresented and misused. Moreover, our experts have continued to develop more comprehensive resources and innovative ways to provide information about antisemitism, extremism and hate.”

“At ADL, we always are looking for how we can and should do things better. That’s why we are moving to retire the Glossary effectively immediately,” the organization continued. “This will allow ADL to explore new strategies and creative approaches to deliver our data and present our research more effectively. It will keep us focused on ensuring we do what we do best: fighting antisemitism and hate in the most impactful ways possible.”

Kirk’s organization, Turning Point USA, is listed as a “Center of Extremism” by the ADL. The entity claims the conservative organization has “ties to a range of right-wing extremists and has generated support from anti-Muslim bigots, alt-lite activists and some corners of the white supremacist alt-right.”

The ADL further criticized Kirk’s promotion of “Christian nationalism: the idea that Christians should dominate the government and other areas of life in the US. TPUSA also has promoted some conspiracy theories related to topics such as election fraud and COVID-19.”

FBI Arrests Illegal Immigrants in Portland for Laser Attack on CBP Aircraft

The FBI arrests illegal immigrants in Portland have once again spotlighted the dangerous consequences of America’s border crisis. Federal officials say four Mexican nationals living in the U.S. illegally aimed lasers at a Customs and Border Protection (CBP) helicopter, a reckless act that could have blinded the pilot and caused a deadly crash.

The Department of Homeland Security confirmed the men—Diogenes Albores-Suchiapa, Andres Brian Lopez-Labra, Benito Zamora-Alvarez, and Hector Miranda Mendoza—were taken into custody after agents traced the laser beam to a Portland residence. Several of the suspects had prior arrests for crimes ranging from meth possession to DUI. One admitted to living in the U.S. illegally since 1994.

“Pointing a laser at an aircraft is incredibly dangerous,” DHS said, emphasizing that the act is a serious federal crime. FBI Portland confirmed agents recovered the device during the raid, and U.S. Attorney’s Office officials are expected to file charges.

FBI Director Kash Patel issued a clear warning: “Targeting law enforcement will never be tolerated… if you come after the men and women who protect this nation, we will come after you, and you will be put away.”

The arrests came as Attorney General Pam Bondi directed federal agencies to defend ICE facilities from escalating political violence. President Donald Trump also pledged to send troops to Portland if necessary, vowing to use “full force” against Antifa and other domestic extremists.

This case shows the intersection of illegal immigration, rising crime, and anti-law enforcement extremism. The arrests prove once again that criminals foreign and domestic—find fertile ground in sanctuary cities like Portland.

Trump Presidential Library Moves Forward

Florida’s plan to develop the Donald J. Trump Presidential Library in Miami is moving forward.

Governor Ron DeSantis (R) and the Florida Cabinet passed a proposal to create the library in a 2.63-acre parcel in Miami-Dade County. The agenda item was part of the September 30 meeting.

The land is currently used as an employee parking lot for Miami Dade College’s Wolfson Campus.

“Having the Trump Presidential Library in Miami will be good for Florida, for the city, and for Miami Dade College,” DeSantis said in a statement. “No state has supported the president’s agenda more than the Free State of Florida, and I was proud to spearhead the effort to house this historic library right here in his home state.”

“It was an honor to vote in favor of making Florida the future home of President Trump’s Presidential Library,” said Attorney General James Uthmeier. “I look forward to the patriotic stories the Trump Library Foundation will showcase for generations to come in the Free State of Florida.”

Chief Financial Officer Blaise Ingoglia said he was “proud to approve the conveyance of land next to the historic Freedom Tower, a symbol of freedom for so many, for the Donald J. Trump Presidential Library,” explaining that the president’s “historic accomplishments have forever changed our country for the better, and we look forward to welcoming visitors from around the world to learn about his legacy of patriotism. This enshrines Florida as Trump Country.”

Eric Trump, son of President Trump, said he was “extremely proud to announce a UNANIMOUS vote by the Florida Cabinet for the conveyance of land for the [Donald Trump Trump] Presidential Library which will be located in… MIAMI, FLORIDA!”

“It will be the greatest Presidential Library ever built, honoring the greatest President our Nation has ever known,” he wrote on X.

Florida Executions Hit Record as State Delivers Justice for 1990 Double Murder

Florida carried out its 13th execution of the year on Tuesday, surpassing its previous annual record and cementing the state’s position as the national leader in enforcing capital punishment. The latest case involved the execution of convicted killer Victor Tony Jones, 64, who brutally murdered a Miami-Dade couple in 1990.

Jones was executed by lethal injection at Florida State Prison in Starke at 6:13 p.m., according to Gov. Ron DeSantis’ office. Asked if he had a final statement, Jones simply replied, “No, sir.” His final meal included fried chicken, collard greens, and sweet tea.

Jones had been sentenced to death in 1993 for killing Matilda and Jacob Nestor, who had employed him shortly before the attack. After stabbing Matilda in the neck and Jacob in the chest, Jones attempted to rob them. In a final act of courage, Jacob staggered into another office, grabbed a .22-caliber pistol, and shot Jones in the forehead before succumbing to his wounds. Authorities later found Jones carrying the Nestors’ money and belongings.

Florida has executed more criminals this year than any other state, with Texas and South Carolina tied for a distant second with just four each. Nationwide, 30 executions have been carried out in 2025, the most in over a decade.

Florida’s leadership underscores the principle that justice must be firm and swift. While critics decry capital punishment, families of victims know that true justice means holding murderers accountable. As DeSantis’ spokesperson noted, Jones’ execution had “no complications”—a decisive end for a man who caused unimaginable suffering.

Sweden’s Gang Crisis Deepens as Teenage Girls Recruited for Assassinations and Bombings

Sweden’s crime epidemic has reached a shocking new level, as officials warn that gangs are now recruiting teenage girls as assassins and bombers. The Sweden gang crisis, detailed in a Telegraph investigation, shows that girls as young as 15 are being lured through social media and promised thousands of dollars to carry out murders, arson, and bomb attacks.

Prosecutor Lisa dos Santos explained that gangs exploit a blind spot in law enforcement: “Green Women,” as the girls are called, were initially overlooked by investigators. In some cases, bounties of up to $17,500 are offered for killings.

One case involved a 17-year-old named Olivia, who was caught on video delivering explosives for a petrol bomb attack. After the strike, she coolly texted her boyfriend that the job had gone “OK.” For her role, she received a one-year prison sentence.

The brutal reality is that many of these young recruits appear eager to prove themselves “as ruthless, if not more so, than their male equivalents.” Prosecutor Ida Arnell described a chilling moment when a 15-year-old girl was asked if she wanted to fire at a rival’s door or his head—she chose the head.

In 2023 alone, 280 girls between 15 and 17 were charged with violent crimes, including murder and manslaughter. Justice Minister Gunnar Strömmer admitted the scale of the crisis: girls are now “much more widespread” in Sweden’s criminal networks than previously believed.

Military Presence Scales Down in Iraq

The U.S. military has begun withdrawing forces from Iraq in accordance with an agreement signed in September 2024.

“In accordance with the President’s guidance and in alignment with the U.S.-Iraq Higher Military Commission and the joint statement issued on Sept. 27, 2024, the United States and Coalition partners will reduce its military mission in Iraq,” Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell said in a statement. “This reduction reflects our combined success in fighting ISIS and marks an effort to transition to a lasting U.S.-Iraq security partnership in accordance with U.S. national interests, the Iraqi Constitution, and the U.S.-Iraq Strategic Framework Agreement.”

“This partnership will support U.S. and Iraqi security and strengthens Iraq’s ability to realize economic development, foreign investment, and regional leadership. The U.S. Government will continue close coordination with the Government of Iraq and Coalition members to ensure a responsible transition.”

Reuters reports that the United States had an estimated 2,500 troops in Iraq at the beginning of 2025 and more than 900 in Syria. The new transition will see the military targeting Islamic State remnants in Syria and moving personnel to Kurdistan.

Troops remaining in Baghdad will focus on bilateral security cooperation matters rather than countering ISIS.

“ISIS is no longer posing a sustained threat to the government of Iraq or to the U.S. homeland from Iraqi territory. This is a major achievement that enables us to transition more responsibly to Iraq leading efforts for security in their own country,” a senior defense official said, as quoted by the outlet.

Taliban Internet Blackout Traps Afghanistan in Digital Darkness as UN Warns of ‘Significant Harm’

The Taliban internet blackout has plunged Afghanistan into near-total digital silence, cutting off millions from the outside world and crippling essential services. On Monday, the regime ordered telecom companies to shut down all internet and mobile data, citing “immorality” concerns.

According to Reuters, Afghanistan’s 9,350-kilometer fiber optic network was dismantled in phases, leaving banks frozen, flights canceled, and Kabul International Airport virtually deserted. NetBlocks confirmed that online traffic collapsed to just one percent of normal levels, a stark reminder of how tightly authoritarian regimes can control everyday life.

UN officials blasted the Taliban’s move, warning it is deepening an already dire humanitarian crisis. “It has left Afghanistan almost completely cut off from the outside world, and risks inflicting significant harm on the Afghan people,” the UN mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) said in a statement.

The blackout has not only severed communications for ordinary citizens but also crippled humanitarian relief. Arafat Jamal, the UN refugee agency’s country representative, described the situation bluntly: “It is another crisis on top of the existing crisis.”
