Operation Charlotte’s Web, Trump’s Crackdown Stuns

Federal authorities arrested 200 illegal migrants in Charlotte, North Carolina, over the weekend during the launch of “Operation Charlotte’s Web,” a Department of Homeland Security initiative aimed at removing violent criminal aliens from U.S. communities. The effort, led by U.S. Customs and Border Protection under President Trump’s directive, targets known offenders and gang members residing in the country illegally.

Of those detained, 44 individuals were named in official records for serious crimes, including aggravated assault, assault with a deadly weapon, battery, hit-and-run, and driving under the influence. Several had prior deportations and known gang affiliations. Arrested individuals included members of the violent 18th Street and MS-13 gangs.

Among the worst offenders was Leonel De Jesus Chinchea-Galvan, facing charges for aggravated assault and drunk driving. DHS confirmed he had previously been deported and reentered the country illegally.

A DHS spokesperson stated unequivocally that “there is absolutely no excuse to continue allowing criminal illegal aliens to terrorize our American communities.” The department emphasized that these individuals “should never have been here in the first place” and praised President Trump and DHS Secretary Kristi Noem for prioritizing public safety.

Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin reiterated that the Trump administration is stepping up where local politicians have failed. “Americans should be able to live without fear of violent criminal illegal aliens hurting them, their families, or their neighbors,” she said. “There have been too many victims.”

The operation marks a significant move by the administration to combat sanctuary policies and restore law and order in urban centers. DHS said more targeted enforcement actions are forthcoming in cities where criminal aliens are shielded by local officials.
