The National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) is blasting House Democrats for missing their own deadline to unveil their “Project 2026” policy platform, accusing them of plotting a return to what it calls “Joe Biden’s America.” In a Tuesday memo, the GOP campaign arm mocked the Democrats’ agenda as “wildly unpopular” and claimed it would lead to defeat in the next midterm elections.
The NRCC said House Democrat Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) promised to release the platform within 100 days of April 30 but failed to deliver. The memo alleged Democrats are hiding their proposals because they know voters reject their priorities. “Democrats know their agenda is wildly unpopular, and their focus on these issues will cause them to lose yet again,” the NRCC statement read.
The satirical memo outlined eight points the NRCC claims represent Democrats’ real goals. Among them: reinstating “wasteful government spending,” tolerating “high crime,” imposing “open borders,” and pushing for repeated impeachment attempts against President Trump. It also targeted environmental policies such as a federal “Carbon Lifestyle Tax” on truck, SUV, and grill owners, as well as proposals floated by some progressives for “government-run grocery stores” in certain neighborhoods.
“This is the America Democrats want to build,” said NRCC spokesman Mike Marinella, warning that their platform would reverse Republican-led efforts to secure the border, strengthen the economy, and restore public safety.
In response, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee accused Republicans of using the memo to “distract from their failed leadership and refusal to get a single thing done for the American people.” Democrats did not confirm any of the specific policy points listed by the NRCC.
The GOP memo signals Republicans’ intention to frame the 2026 House races as a referendum on the Biden-era policies and to tie Democratic candidates to progressive proposals that have drawn backlash from voters in swing districts.
