New York City officials have begun providing illegal immigrants prepaid debit cards.
The prepaid cards will reportedly be used to purchase food and supplies for babies. Up to $350 will be put on the cards each week.
According to the New York Post, only 8 cards from Mobility Capital Finance were handed out, although 115 cards are expected to be provided by next week.
The pilot program will work with 460 migrants out of the thousands living in the city.
“Not only will this provide families with the ability to purchase fresh food for their culturally-relevant diets and the baby supplies of their choosing, but the pilot program is expected to save New York City taxpayers more than $600,000 per month and $7 million per year,” the city spokesperson told Fox News. “The prepaid cards can be used exclusively at select stores to ensure the money is spent on food and baby supplies.”
Representative Jim Jordan (R-OH) criticized the move, saying, “American families can barely afford rent and groceries. But Democrats are giving out gift cards and free money to illegal aliens.”
“Where’s the leadership?” he added.
Similarly, Representative Byron Donalds (R-FL) said, “There are THOUSANDS of homeless AMERICAN CITIZENS in NYC, yet government prioritizes illegal aliens. It’s time to put the American people FIRST.”
Illegal immigrants are also receiving fake social security cards from criminal gangs.
Although the social security cards are fake, the numbers are real and affect U.S. citizens.
Associate Professor at the Department of Criminal Justice at the Citadel, South Carolina, Roy Fenoff, said, “If I’m using a social security number that’s of another person, and then I’m committing crimes, and I’m using [their] name, you potentially have warrants out there for innocent people’s arrest, because you don’t really know who this person was.”
