Nearly 300 Pounds of Narcotics, Marijuana Seized at Border in One Week

Nearly 300 pounds of cocaine, fentanyl, marijuana, and methamphetamine were seized at Customs and Border (CBP) checkpoints in one week.

291 pounds of drugs were confiscated by CBP agents near El Paso between January 16-23.

18.56 pounds of powdered fentanyl and 63.8 pounds of methamphetamine were discovered on January 16, followed by 29.18 pounds of cocaine being found during a vehicle search on January 18.

Another 23 pounds of cocaine was discovered at the Marcelino Port of entry on January 20. Almost 101 pounds of marijuana was discovered that same day at the Ysleta port.

On January 23, offers seized 55.55 pounds of methamphetamine at the Columbus port in New Mexico.

CBP El Paso Director Field Operations Hector A. Mancha said in a statement, “CBP officers continue to perform their mission with vigilance and professionalism. They are able to maintain the flow of legitimate trade and travel while also executing their vital drug interdiction responsibilities.”

In December, CBP discovered and seized 854.07 pounds of crystal methamphetamine, 164.72 pounds of powdered methamphetamine, and 165.34 pounds of cocaine at the World Trade Bridge in Laredo, Texas.

The narcotics are estimated to be worth $10,298,520.
