Names of U.S. Soldiers Killed in Jordan Drone Strike Revealed

The Department of Defense (DOD) released the identities of the U.S. Army Reserve soldiers killed by a drone strike in Jordan.

“Sgt. William Jerome Rivers, 46, of Carrollton, Ga.; Spc. Kennedy Ladon Sanders, 24, of Waycross, Ga.; and Spc. Breonna Alexsondria Moffett, 23, of Savannah, Ga., died Jan. 28, 2024, in Jordan, when a one-way unmanned aerial system (OWUAS) impacted their container housing units. The incident is under investigation,” the DOD wrote.

A Facebook post for the City of Waycross honored Sanders.

“The City is deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Kennedy Ladon Sanders, who gave her life in service to our country. We offer our heartfelt condolences to her family and friends during this difficult time. In honor of her sacrifice, the City has lowered our flags to half-mast today. We are also working on additional ways to pay tribute to Kennedy and her service,” the post read. “Our thoughts and prayers are with her loved ones as they mourn this tremendous loss.”

Moffett’s mother wrote on social media, according to journalist Kristina Wong, “This is one of the saddest days of my life. With a heavy heart I have to say that my Angel my first born has going on to be with GOD today. The pain will never go away and my life is forever changed. I will never get to cook your favorite food, we will never get to talk on the phone and I will never see you walk through my front door again. Breonna [was] killed this morning. Just know that a piece of my heart and soul will always be missing. Love you Baby Girl. Rest Easy. Always will be my first born.”

American Faith reported that U.S. Central Command said 25 service members were injured in the Sunday attack in addition to the three killed as some 3,000 American troops typically are stationed in Jordan.

According to Muhannad Mubaidin, a government spokesman for Jordan, “the attack happened outside of the kingdom across the border in Syria,” but could not be confirmed.

Donald Trump called the drone attack that killed three American troops and injured many others “another horrific and tragic consequence of Joe Biden’s weakness and surrender.”

The attack “marks a horrible day for America,” Trump said in a statement posted on Truth Social. “My most profound sympathies go to the Families of the Brave Servicemembers we have lost. I ask all Americans to join me in praying for those who have been wounded.”
