New York Ranger’s fans greet Democratic governor Kathy Hochul as she entered the arena for women’s empowerment night Tuesday.
QUICK FACTS:
- The governor was announced before the puck drop as a “women’s rights champion” just before fans voiced their disapproval of Hochul as she walked onto the ice.
- “A champion of women’s rights and leader of the great state of New York, please welcome Gov. Kathy Hochul,” the announcer said as fans booed.
REPUBLICAN RUNNING OPPONENT REP. LEE ZELDIN:
“NY Rangers fans are ready to FIRE Kathy Hochul and are ALL IN to Save Our State! Losing is not an option.”
BACKGROUND:
- Earlier this month, a survey about the upcoming state gubernatorial race in New York showed that New Yorkers are particularly frustrated with the governor.
- “@GovKathyHochul I’m hoping your approval rating plummets as low as your leader @potus Biden. Your policies are fascist. You continue to push the official narrative while ignoring truth. Then hurl accusations against “fake news?” You spew the #propaganda that is fake news,” one Twitter user said.
- The poll also indicated that while Hochul is leading against Zeldin, the sharply increasing number of New Yorkers that want to leave the state could reflect badly on her.
