Musk Won’t Mandate COVID-19 Vaccines

The Tesla CEO “would rather go to prison” than fire unvaccinated employees.

QUICK FACTS:
  • In a Tuesday post on X, formerly known as Twitter, Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk argued that vaccine mandates are “outrageous.”
  • Companies requiring employees to take “multiple boosters to do anything” is “messed up,” Musk stated. “Until the Supreme Court invalidated Biden’s exec order, SpaceX and many other companies would have been forced to fire anyone who refused to get vaccinated!”
  • Musk also revealed that his companies would not have chosen to fire employees: “I would rather go to prison than fire good people who didn’t want to be jabbed,” he said.
  • The CTO of X explained that he contracted COVID-19 before any vaccines were available and that the infection was more like a mild cold than a severe concern.
  • After being forced to receive three vaccines “for travel,” however, Musk was “almost sent” to the hospital, having side effects to the second booster shot.
  • “I had major side effects from my second booster shot. Felt like I was dying for several days. Hopefully, no permanent damage, but I dunno,” Musk tweeted in January.
MUSK QUESTIONS COVID-19 VACCINES:
  • “How many other people out there have symptoms that are actually from the vaccine or Covid treatment, rather than Covid itself?” the CEO asked. “It’s not like I don’t believe in vaccines – I do. However, the cure cannot be potentially worse than the disease. And public debate over efficacy should not be shut down.”
  • The statement comes as Joe Biden calls for “leaders” to stop criticizing the COVID-19 vaccines and boosters.
  • “What leaders say matter, in terms of people’s confidence in things they’re not sure about,” Biden said during a science and technology speech. “I just would urge those in public life and both political parties or no political party to be cautious about the ac- — the sometimes inflammatory things you say about this, because people’s lives are at stake.”
BACKGROUND:
  • American Faith reported that U.S. Senator Ron Johnson (R-WI) sent a letter to Robert Califf, Commissioner of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), calling for transparency regarding COVID-19 vaccine safety.
  • “FDA’s intentional withholding of information relating to the safety of the COVID-19 vaccines is outrageous and shows a complete disregard for the health and safety of the American people,” Johnson wrote.
  • “The notion that FDA is actively hiding information about vaccine safety signals from Congress and the American people is beyond despicable, particularly given the fact that COVID-19 vaccine adverse events can and do occur,” the senator explained.
