More Than One Million Migrants Encountered Since October

Border patrol agents have reportedly encountered more than one million illegal immigrants since October.

The number is about 100,000 greater than the same period last year.

According to Fox News, Chinese migrants were the fastest-growing group crossing the border.

Last year, more than 37,000 Chinese migrants were encountered by border authorities, although 20,000 have already been encountered since the beginning of fiscal year 2024.

There were more than 18,000 “known gotaways” during the first 16 days of fiscal year 2024 at the U.S. Southern border, according to U.S. Border Patrol Chief Jason Owens.

“Over 18K known gotaways in the first 16 days of FY24. These are individuals whose identities & purpose we do not know. That is why you need every Border Patrol agent to be in the field and on patrol,” Owens said.

Federal data released on October 21 revealed that over 3.5 million migrants crossed the southern border during fiscal year 2023.
