In her forthcoming memoir set to release this Tuesday, Melania Trump, the former first lady, reveals her stance in favor of a woman’s choice to either proceed with a pregnancy or opt for an abortion. This topic emerges as crucial for the electorate in the upcoming presidential election on November 5, where her spouse, Donald Trump, is vying for a second term as the Republican candidate.
“It is imperative to guarantee that women have autonomy in deciding their preference of having children, based on their own convictions, free from any intervention or pressure from the government,” she articulates in her soon-to-be-released book, as per a pre-publication excerpt shared by the Guardian.
The narrative takes a reflective turn to 2022 when the Supreme Court, influenced by Trump-appointed conservative justices, revoked the nationwide abortion rights, leaving it to individual states to legislate on the matter.
Vice President Kamala Harris, running for president as the Democratic nominee, advocates for reinstating national safeguards for abortion rights as they were recognized under Roe v. Wade.
“Why should anyone other than the woman herself have the power to determine what she does with her own body? A woman’s fundamental right of individual liberty, to her own life, grants her the authority to terminate her pregnancy if she wishes,” Melania Trump further elucidates in her book titled “Melania.”
Additionally, the 54-year-old mother shared a message on X, emphasizing the book’s theme: “individual freedom is a fundamental right that I safeguard.”
She persists in her advocacy within the pages of her memoir, asserting, “restricting a woman’s right to choose whether to terminate an unwanted pregnancy is the same as denying her control over her own body. I have carried this belief with me throughout my entire adult life.”
