Meghan Markle’s Netflix Show Slammed as ‘Out of Touch’

Meghan Markle’s upcoming Netflix series, With Love, Meghan, faced sharp criticism following the release of its trailer on Thursday. The series, part of Markle and Prince Harry’s $100 million Netflix contract, showcases the Duchess engaging in lifestyle activities such as baking and collecting honey in her backyard. Critics have called the show “out of touch” and questioned its authenticity and relevance.

The trailer features a moment with actress Mindy Kaling, who refers to the experience as “one of the most glamorous moments” of her life. However, online viewers were less than impressed, with thousands of negative comments and 40,000 downvotes on Netflix’s YouTube page. Critics mocked the series as disconnected from reality, given the current global and economic challenges.

Comments on YouTube and X (formerly Twitter) lambasted the series for its perceived tone-deaf approach. A sarcastic YouTube user quipped about mimicking Markle’s “authentic” moments, while another pointed out inconsistencies in her cooking techniques. Others questioned the broader appeal of the series, with one user calling it a “prolonged fall from grace.”

Meghan McCain, daughter of late Senator John McCain, also weighed in, criticizing the show’s premise during turbulent times. On X, McCain remarked, “There have been two terror attacks in two days, major wars raging, and Americans can’t pay for groceries. We are a country in rage, uncertainty, and intensity right now.” She suggested Markle pivot to more meaningful projects, such as addressing food deserts in low-income areas, rather than showcasing curated lifestyle content.

Other users echoed these sentiments, suggesting the show lacks authenticity and fails to resonate with everyday struggles. Comments ranged from sarcastic observations about Markle’s privacy concerns to critiques of the show’s intended audience. Some questioned why Markle and Harry, who previously cited privacy concerns, would release such personal and polished content.

The backlash highlights ongoing public skepticism toward the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s media ventures, as critics accuse them of being out of touch with global and societal issues. Markle and Harry have not responded to the criticism as of now, leaving the future reception of With Love, Meghan uncertain.
