Maryland Democrats Propose Controversial $300K Gun Liability Insurance Bill

Democrats are once again pushing concerns over more stringent firearm rules and are pushing forward with legislation that mandates significant liability insurance for gun owners in Maryland, a move that has drawn criticism from many who argue it’s infringing on their Second Amendment rights.

It seems as though it doesn’t matter how severe crime gets, mostly due to harmful Democratic policies, they simply just do not want American citizens to protect themselves. The proposed bill, introduced by Delegate Terri Hill, a Democrat from Howard County, aims to compel gun owners to purchase liability insurance totaling at least $300,000. Failure to comply would result in the forfeiture of the right to carry a firearm in the state.

Twitter was full of feedback regarding this unfair bill, “How are poor people supposed to exercise their Second Amendment rights if they can’t afford such an insurance policy?” one user wrote, expressing concerns over the financial barriers it could pose to individuals with limited means.

According to the text of the bill, citizens would be prohibited from wearing or carrying a firearm in Maryland unless covered by liability insurance from an authorized insurer. The insurance must address claims related to property damage, bodily injury, or death resulting from firearm use or storage, with coverage extending up to $300,000 for damages arising from a single incident, in addition to interest and costs.

The legislation, if passed, would exempt members of the military and federal law enforcement officers from the liability insurance requirement.
