Senator Marsha Blackburn supports President Donald Trump’s latest travel ban during a Thursday appearance on Fox Business Network’s Mornings with Maria. Blackburn praised the administration’s decision to restrict entry from nations deemed adversarial to the United States, including restrictions on students seeking to attend top American institutions like Harvard.
“It is appropriate that we ban individuals from these countries,” Blackburn said. She emphasized the national security risks posed by travelers from hostile nations, asserting that proper vetting is impossible due to falsified documents and deceptive state-backed practices. “They are here many times to spy and to conduct activity that is not going to be helpful to us.”
Citing the current threat landscape, Blackburn pointed to a recent Chinese espionage case as validation of the administration’s strategy. She argued that U.S. academic institutions are being exploited and must face greater scrutiny over the foreign nationals they welcome for research and education.
“Donald Trump is right. His assessment is accurate,” she stated. “These are adversaries. We do not need to allow them to come into our institutions to do research, to steal our intellectual property, and to do us harm.”
The newly issued travel ban restricts entry from specific countries identified by U.S. intelligence and defense agencies as high-risk due to espionage, terrorism, or cyber intrusion concerns. It also targets foreign students and researchers attempting to enter under academic pretenses.
Blackburn’s comments reflect growing concerns among national security experts and lawmakers over foreign infiltration, particularly from China and Iran. The administration has made it clear that national security, not political correctness, will guide immigration policy moving forward.
