Left-Wing Outlets Push Lie that Trump Called for Liz Cheney’s Execution

Far-left media outlets have pushed the lie that former President Donald Trump called for former Congresswoman Liz Cheney to stand before a firing squad.

Speaking to Tucker Carlson during an event in Arizona, Trump said, “She’s a radical war hawk. Let’s put her with a rifle standing there with nine barrels shooting at her. Okay. Let’s see how she feels about it, you know, when the guns are trained on her face.”

“They’re all war hawks when they’re sitting in Washington in a nice building, saying, ‘Oh, gee will. Let’s send ten thousand troops right into the mouth of the enemy.’ But, she’s a stupid person, and I used to have meetings with a lot of people and she always wanted to go to war with people…”

Trump was not calling for Cheney’s execution but was drawing attention to those pushing for war in Washington, D.C. without fighting themselves.

Cheney responded to Trump’s comment by comparing him to a dictator.

“This is how dictators destroy free nations. They threaten those who speak against them with death. We cannot entrust our country and our freedom to a petty, vindictive, cruel, unstable man who wants to be a tyrant,” she wrote, adding, “Womenwillnotbesilenced” and “#VoteKamala.”

Numerous far-left outlets pushed the lie that Trump called for Cheney’s execution.

CNN anchor Kasie Hunt said Trump’s statement was an “escalation of his violent rhetoric.”

A headline from ABC News read, “Trump uses violent rhetoric to attack ‘war hawk’ Liz Cheney,” while Reuters published, “Trump suggests Liz Cheney should have ‘guns trained on her face.'”

The Washington Post similarly said, “Trump embraces violent rhetoric, suggests Liz Cheney should have guns ‘trained on her face.'” The Huffington Post called Trump’s comment a “gun-filled fantasy.”

While legacy media held to its anti-Trump narrative, former Congressman Joe Walsh came to Trump’s defense. “Trump did NOT call for Liz Cheney to be executed,” he wrote on social media.

Walsh, a Trump critic and Harris supporter, urged the public to “listen to the entirety of what [Trump] said.”

“And the truth is that Trump is not calling for Liz Cheney to be executed,” he added. “But…this 11 second clip will have a gazillion views, and the truth will have just a handful of views.”

The Trump campaign responded to the viral video, with Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt saying, “President Trump was CLEARLY explaining that warmongers like Liz Cheney are very quick to start wars and send other Americans to fight them, rather than go into combat themselves.”
