Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) claimed on Wednesday that conservative criticism of her is rooted in racism, asserting that her detractors are targeting her because she is both Black and educated. The statement was posted on Instagram alongside a screenshot of a message Crockett said she received from a man in Florida using derogatory language.
“So MAGA keeps challenging my blackness due to the fact that I’m educated,” Crockett wrote. “I’m black & educated! Many of you are just the opposite & prove my point about your hate EVERY SINGLE DAY.”
Crockett added, “Please keep your hoods on & stay outta my ‘hood,’” implying her critics are motivated by racial hatred.
This follows recent comments by Crockett on MSNBC in which she alleged minority voters in Texas have diminished political influence. She claimed, “African-Americans are only going to have one-fifth of the voting power that they should have in the state of Texas… our Latino brothers and sisters will only have one-third… Asians… have literally no power.”
Texas Governor Greg Abbott (R) responded directly to Crockett’s race-based accusations. “It would not be a day that ends in the letter ‘y’ if Jasmine Crockett didn’t say something racist,” Abbott said.
Crockett has frequently used inflammatory language toward Republicans. She previously accused the GOP of trying to systematically eliminate Black lawmakers from Congress and referred to President Donald Trump as a “wannabe Hitler.” She also called Abbott, who is paralyzed, “Governor Hot Wheels.”
President Trump responded by calling Crockett and her allies “political hacks” and suggesting they take cognitive exams.
Crockett’s rhetoric underscores a broader trend in far-left politics where criticism is often deflected by alleging racism or other identity-based motives. Meanwhile, conservative leaders in Texas continue to push back, emphasizing policy over personal attacks.
