Former Minnesota Vikings team captain Jack Brewer is publicly condemning state officials for failing to meet a Trump administration deadline requiring protections for girls’ sports. Brewer, a vocal Christian conservative, criticized the decision as morally bankrupt and accused Minnesota leadership of promoting anti-biblical values at the expense of female athletes.
The deadline, issued in September by the Department of Education under President Trump’s direction, demanded that states restrict biological males from competing in girls’ and women’s sports, aligning with Title IX protections. Minnesota failed to comply, prompting Brewer to speak out against the refusal by Governor Tim Walz and Attorney General Keith Ellison to respond substantively.
Brewer said the state’s policies are placing young girls—many of whom are his own relatives—at a competitive and physical disadvantage. He warned that families across the state are being “held hostage by demonic and dark laws” that erode fairness and safety in youth athletics. He further criticized Ellison’s claim that the federal government shutdown prevented an adequate response, calling it a convenient political excuse.
In a strongly worded statement, Brewer described Minnesota’s leaders as agents of a “satanic” ideology that is “destroying the minds of our kids.” He urged Congress and the Trump administration to act swiftly, including cutting federal funding to states that refuse to uphold biological definitions of sex in sports.
The Trump administration’s move to enforce Title IX against states like Minnesota has reignited a growing national debate over transgender participation in women’s sports.
