IRS Hiring DEI Specialist

The Biden administration’s Internal Revenue Service (IRS) is hiring a “senior diversity and inclusion specialist.”

The position has a salary range of $122,198 to $191,900.

According to the job description, the DEI role requires the specialist to serve as a “trusted subject matter expert and source for diversity and inclusion educational services on the most complex and sensitive diversity and inclusion matters, including, EEO, reasonable accommodation, anti-harassment, or other areas as determined by the agency. Influences and executes strategies beyond the incumbent’s positional ‘advisory’ role.”

The specialist will also identify “opportunities for collaboration on diversity and inclusion initiatives across IRS/assigned business units, establishing and maintaining relationships; sharing and extending programs; and identifying best practices that will incorporate diversity and inclusion in training material.”

They will similarly develop and articulate a “sound business case for diversity that includes education and awareness at all levels of the organization. Develops and tracks diversity and inclusion education, marketing and communication strategies, using both qualitative and quantitative analysis, to monitor and evaluate impact and return on investment of diversity and inclusion programs.”

The specialist will analyze “program effectiveness, including customer satisfaction, and makes recommendations for program enhancement and improvement,” the description notes.

In 2021, Biden signed an executive order to “advance diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility (DEIA) in the Federal workforce.”

“Accordingly, the Federal Government must strengthen its ability to recruit, hire, develop, promote, and retain our Nation’s talent and remove barriers to equal opportunity,” the order read. “It must also provide resources and opportunities to strengthen and advance diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility across the Federal Government”

Biden emphasized his support for DEI initiatives in May, when he declared that diversity, equity, and inclusion are the “core strengths of America.”
