Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian called for the end of Iran’s conflict with the United States during a speech at the General Assembly of the Islamic Association of the Medical Society of Iran.
“It is better to end the war today, when we are in power and dignity and the whole world acknowledges our victory and emphasizes that America, contrary to all regulations, attacked our schools, hospitals, and infrastructure, and is hated in the world,” Pezeshkian said, according to reports.
“In the meantime, some people are sitting outside the circle; because they do not know the state of the government, the state of the parliament, and the state of the commanders, they make comments and analysis, even though they have not experienced any suffering or hardship, and then they talk about the cost,” he said. “They do not find a single clause in this agreement that indicates a commitment; all commitments are related to the other party.”
Pezeshkian went on to acknowledge the economic tolls of the war. “Criticizing the problems of inflation and issues arising from the war is not consistent with the slogans of some. When we chant slogans, we must also accept their severity,” he explained.
Meanwhile, Iran’s Parliament Speaker Mohammed Bagher Qalibaf called the United States’ economic action against Iran “cruel.”
“We are neither warmongers nor looking for war, but as Muslims, we believe in one principle in the Islamic Ummah, and that is that we do not allow people to come and trample our honor and honor and leave. On this path, we pass through our wealth and place, stand and defend our dignity and honor,” he said in a statement on Telegram. “If you pay attention to the resources and raw materials of Muslim countries, you will realize that our enemies are coming to plunder them, so we must plan for cruel sanctions in this situation so that we can overcome them.”
President Trump threatened this week to launch an “economic D-Day” against Iran amid the lack of negotiations.
“No one has given the Islamic Republic of Iran a greater opportunity to make a Deal than me. TRAGICALLY, for them, they have failed to take it. Therefore, today, I am announcing the MOST CRUSHING ECONOMIC OPERATION EVER TAKEN AGAINST ANY COUNTRY! This will be Economic Warfare and Isolation on an unprecedented scale,” Trump declared on Truth Social. “Their navy is gone, their air force is destroyed, their military factories are now rubble, their currency is worthless, and their country is hanging by a thread.”
