Investigation into Jeffrey Epstein’s Ranch Underway

Investigators in New Mexico have begun searching Jeffrey Epstein’s ranch.

Under the direction of Attorney General Torrez, the New Mexico Department of Justice has conducted searches of the “Zorro Ranch property previously owned by Jeffrey Epstein, with the New Mexico State Police and Sandoval County Sheriff’s Office providing assistance,” the state’s Department of Justice said in a news release. “This search is part of the criminal investigation announced by the New Mexico Department of Justice on February 19th into allegations of illegal activity at Epstein’s ranch prior to Epstein’s 2019 death.”

“The New Mexico Department of Justice appreciates the cooperation of the current property owners in granting access for the search and extends its thanks to the ranch staff for their professionalism. We urge the public to please stay away from the area and ground any drone activity nearby to avoid interfering with the ongoing law enforcement operation,” the statement continues. “The New Mexico Department of Justice will continue to keep the public appropriately informed, support the survivors, and follow the facts wherever they lead.”

Last month, New Mexico lawmakers launched a bipartisan effort to investigate the ranch. The bill establishing the subcommittee, sponsored by Santa Fe Democrat Andrea Romero, says the commission will be tasked with investigating “allegations of criminal activity and public corruption” in order to secure information dictating whether legislation or other action is needed. According to the legislation, four representatives, two from each major party, will serve in the subcommittee.

Recently-released files surrounding Jeffrey Epstein reveal his links to former New Mexico officials, including two former Democratic governors and an attorney general.

The state’s DOJ has also created a tip line for those who may have information relevant to the investigation.
