Immigrant Plotting to Kill Trump on Terror Watchlist

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) allowed a man on the terror watchlist to enter the United States through a parole program. The man, Asif Raza Merchant, later plotted to kill Donald Trump.

The FBI interviewed Merchant upon his entry into the U.S. through Houston’s George Bush Intercontinental Airport, concluding that he was “police and cooperative,” according to a memo obtained by Just the News.

“Subject’s notable travel outside of country of citizenship includes a recent trip to Iran,” the memo added.

Merchant, who arrived in the U.S. in April, was flagged by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and was entered into its watchlist as a “Lookout Qualified Person of Interest.”

The man was “released without incident” into the country and was “free to travel to desired destination,” the memo describes.

Merchant was arrested on July 12 and convicted of forming a plot to assassinate Trump and other government officials.

He was reported to law enforcement by an individual allegedly assisting him in the plot.

According to the confidential source, Merchant planned to use assassins to kill Trump after he left the country. Before fleeing the United States, however, Merchant was intercepted by law enforcement.
