Nashville Hit-and-Run, Illegal Alien on the Run After Brutal Crash

A 21-year-old man celebrating his birthday in Nashville is hospitalized with severe injuries after a hit-and-run allegedly carried out by an illegal alien who had been released into the U.S. under the Biden administration’s immigration policies.

Zach Carach, a Florida native, was in Tennessee marking his 21st birthday when he was struck while using a crosswalk in downtown Nashville. The suspect, identified as Tony Gebian Lopez Infante, is an illegal alien from Venezuela and currently wanted by both local police and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

Video footage captured the violent collision, leaving Carach with serious injuries to his left arm and leg. He has already undergone surgery and remains hospitalized. “Everybody that’s watched [the footage], the doctors, and the police, say they don’t know how he’s not paralyzed or has a TBI or how it didn’t kill him,” said Sheena Carach, the victim’s mother.

DHS confirmed that Infante illegally crossed the U.S.-Mexico border on August 1, 2023, and was released into the country less than two weeks later under the Biden administration’s Catch and Release policy. He was issued a final deportation order in September 2024 but was never removed from the U.S.

DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin slammed the administration’s handling of the case. “The Biden Administration released this illegal alien into our country in 2023. This crime was preventable and is the direct result of open border policies that prioritized illegal aliens over the safety of American citizens,” she said.

Authorities are urging anyone with information about Infante’s whereabouts to contact DHS at 866-DHS-2-ICE.
