Representative Nick Langwothy (R-NY) introduced a resolution demanding U.S. Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle be fired.
The legislation was revealed during a hearing with Cheatle.
“Many people here have called for your resignation. I’ve introduced a resolution here into this body that hopefully will get a vote this week, calling on the President to fire you, ma’am,” Langworthy said. “You have not done your job. You have put two black eyes on your agency, and you need to go.”
The resolution calls for the “termination of United States Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle from her position, effective immediately.”
Langworthy told Fox News Digital that Cheatle “must be held accountable for the unacceptable failure to keep President Trump and rallygoers safe on July 13th.”
“In our Oversight hearing today, she did nothing but dodge questions and deflect blame. Corey Comperatore is dead because of this failure of the Secret Service. The American people deserve transparency and competence from their leaders, especially those tasked with the critical responsibility of protecting our nation’s highest office. She must be fired now,” the representative stated.
Representative Lauren Boebert previously introduced legislation that would hold Cheatle accountable for the security failures of July 13.
“Saturday’s assassination attempt on President Trump’s life was either intentional or the result of gross incompetence by the United States Secret Service. Under Director Cheatle’s failed leadership, the United States Secret Service has prioritized woke DEI policies over the core responsibilities of the Secret Service, including protecting our nation’s leaders,” Boebert said. “This lack of leadership contributed to the first assassination attempt of a President in 43 years. Director Cheatle has got to go!”
The bill, called the “Secret Service Accountability Act,” would “prohibit the use of Federal funds for the salary of the Director of the United States Secret Service.”
