House Republican Introduces Articles of Impeachment Against Harris

Rep. Andy Ogles (R-TN) introduced articles of impeachment against Vice President Kamala Harris.

The articles target her failure to uphold U.S. immigration law.

“Kamala Harris has disgraced the Office of the Vice President and willfully disregarded her oath to uphold and defend the Constitution,” Ogles said in a statement. “She is not only an embarrassment to the country but has also intentionally ignored her responsibility to enforce the laws of the United States and protect the American people. On her watch, every single town has become a border town. Hundreds of thousands of Americans have overdosed on illicit drugs brought across the southern border, and countless women and children have been raped and murdered.”

“Kamala Harris has betrayed the trust of the public by failing to exercise her sworn duty to employ the provisions of the 25th Amendment to remove President Biden from office when it became apparent that he was mentally and physically incapable of continuing to serve,” he continued. “For these reasons alone, immediate action should be taken to impeach her.”

Politico’s Olivia Beavers shared the impeachment articles on X, which accuse Harris of “high crimes and misdemeanors” and say she has “willfully and systemically refused to uphold Federal immigration laws, in that: In her conduct of the Office of Vice President of the United States, Kamala Devi Harris… has willfully prevented, obstructed, and impeded the administration of justice.”

The articles also claim Harris has “demonstrated extraordinary incompetence in the execution of her duties, a stark refusal to uphold the existing immigration laws, and a palpable indifference to people of the United States as suffering as a result of the ongoing southern border crisis in the United States.”

Harris has “consistently refused to visit the southern border to evaluate this ongoing national crisis, aside from a single trip hundreds of miles away from the epicenter of the migrant crisis.

The articles of impeachment follow a House resolution from Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY), which similarly condemned Harris for her role as “border czar.”

The resolution states that in 2021, President Joe Biden asked Harris to “serve as the administration’s border czar in charge of: working to address the ‘root causes’’ of illegal immigration into the United States.” It took her 93 days to visit the southern border.

In a statement accompanying the resolution, Stefanik said Harris’ “failed leadership led to the most catastrophic open border crisis in history.”

“Biden’s open border czar Kamala Harris, and every elected Democrat is responsible for this border crisis and they must all be held accountable for their role in jeopardizing our national security and turning every community into a border community,” she said. “Millions of illegals have poured into our country because of the Biden-Harris Administration’s unconstitutional, illegal executive actions, wiping away President Donald Trump’s effective border security policies which created the most secure border in modern history.”
