Harris ‘Not Welcome’ in Houston

A statement from the Harris County GOP said Vice President Kamala Harris is “not welcome” in Houston, Texas.

The July 25 statement, titled, “Kamala Is Not Welcome In Houston,” read, “Yesterday, Vice President and hand-selected Democratic Presidential Nominee Kamala Harris arrived in Houston.”

“The last time Harris was in Texas was three years ago when she made her one and only visit to cleared streets and carefully crafted environments in El Paso as the ‘border czar,'” the statement added.

Harris County Republican Party Chairwoman Cindy Siegel said, “Kamala Harris coming to Texas to speak at a teachers’ union event with no plans to visit the border is exactly what I would expect from her; it’s another example of her indifference to the real issues Texans are facing.”

Siegel called Harris’ behavior in perpetuating the lies and coverups regarding President Joe Biden’s health “shameful,” adding, “This deceit resulted in her being propelled to the highest point in her career without a single vote being cast in her name.”

Harris’ handling of the border crisis has come under recent scrutiny from the Democratic Party. Six Democrat representatives voted alongside Republicans to pass a resolution condemning the vice president’s role as “border czar.”

The Democrats who voted in support of the resolution included Reps. Yadira Caraveo (D-CO), Henry Cuellar (D-TX), Don Davis (D-NC), Jared Golden (D-ME), Mary Peltola (D-AK), and Marie Gluesenkamp Perez (D-WA).

The resolution states that in 2021, President Joe Biden asked Harris to “serve as the administration’s border czar in charge of: working to address the ‘root causes’’ of illegal immigration into the United States.” It took her 93 days to visit the southern border.

Under the Biden administration, the resolution notes, there have been “over 7.9 million illegal immigrant encounters at the United States southern border” and “roughly 2 million known gotaways who evaded the United States Border Patrol.”
