Hannah Anderson, Director of Healthy America Policy and Senior Director of Policy at the America First Policy Institute, described the newly launched Trump Rx website as “first of its kind” and “unprecedented” during an interview with Breitbart News on Saturday.
Speaking with Breitbart News Washington Bureau Chief Matthew Boyle, Anderson highlighted how the platform is designed to give Americans direct access to transparent prescription drug pricing without navigating complex insurance systems or pharmacy markups.
The Trump administration launched the Trump Rx website on Thursday, offering coupons for dozens of commonly used medications. According to Breitbart News, the platform initially includes discounts for at least 40 prescription drugs, with more expected to be added.
“People need to understand how unprecedented this really is,” Anderson said. “This is a no-middleman contract. Americans can go directly to a website, clearly know the price of the drug, and not have to shop around or deal with endless paperwork.”
She explained that users can view prices online, print a coupon, and bring it to the pharmacy of their choice.
“They don’t have to fiddle around with different pharmacies or insurance companies,” Anderson said. “They can go straight to the website, see the price, and get what they need. That’s huge.”
Anderson credited Donald Trump with moving quickly to address prescription drug costs, pointing to an executive order issued last year that laid the groundwork for the program.
“In less than a year, we’re already seeing results,” she said. “This is a president who cares about the person sitting at the kitchen table and understands how important drug prices are for families.”
She added that the initiative is also aimed at ending what she described as “global freeloading,” referring to situations where Americans pay higher prices for medications than consumers in other countries.
According to Anderson, the Trump Rx platform is still in its early stages and will continue to expand.
“It’s just rolling out,” she said. “They’re still negotiating prices, and people will continue to see more drugs added over time.”
She noted that one of the key categories emphasized at the launch was fertility treatment.
“One of the major focuses was IVF drugs,” Anderson said. “The president is making sure families have more affordable options.”
She also pointed to respiratory medications currently available on the site.
“We already have inhalers for asthma and COPD,” she said, highlighting the administration’s effort to address chronic health conditions.
Anderson emphasized that the platform represents a broader shift toward market-based healthcare reforms.
“This is about empowering consumers,” she said. “When people know prices upfront, competition increases, and costs come down.”
Supporters of the initiative argue that Trump Rx could help millions of Americans struggling with high prescription costs, while critics remain skeptical about long-term sustainability.
For now, Anderson said the administration remains focused on expanding access and improving affordability.
“This is just the beginning,” she said. “And it’s a major step in putting patients first.”
