President Donald Trump revealed to Fox News’ Maria Bartiromo that a Greenland deal is in the works, one that will give the United States “total access” to the country for security and defense.
“Everything comes over Greenland,” Trump told Bartiromo. “If the bad guys start shooting, it comes over Greenland. It’s pretty invaluable. It’s amazing. You know, Ronald Reagan had the idea a long time ago, but we didn’t have any technology at that point. The concept was great, but there was no technology. Now we have unbelievable technology.”
“So what are we talking about? An acquisition of Greenland? Are you going to pay for it?” Bartiromo asked.
“I mean, we’re talking about, it’s really being negotiated now, the details of it, but essentially it’s total access. There’s no end, there’s no time limit,” Trump explained, adding, “We’re not doing a 99-year or a 10-year [deal] or anything else.”
“We’re going to have all military access that we want,” Trump further explained. “We’re going to not have to pay anything, other than the fact that we are building the Golden Dome.”

President Trump wrote on Truth Social Wednesday afternoon that upon speaking with NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte, “we have formed the framework of a future deal with respect to Greenland and, in fact, the entire Arctic Region.”
“This solution, if consummated, will be a great one for the United States of America, and all NATO Nations. Based upon this understanding, I will not be imposing the Tariffs that were scheduled to go into effect on February 1st. Additional discussions are being held concerning The Golden Dome as it pertains to Greenland,” he explained. “Further information will be made available as discussions progress. Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Special Envoy Steve Witkoff, and various others, as needed, will be responsible for the negotiations — They will report directly to me.”
