Greene Reintroduces Bill Protecting Children from Mutilation

Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) has reintroduced her legislation protecting children from genital mutilation through transgender surgeries.

The Protect Children’s Innocence Act codifies President Donald Trump’s order banning gender transition surgeries for minors.

Under the bill, those who either knowingly or attempt to perform “genital or bodily mutilation on another person who is a minor, shall be fined under this title, imprisoned not more than 10 years, or both.” Exceptions would be made in select circumstances for the health of the minor, although the bill emphasizes that the “health of a minor does not include a mental health disorder.”

“Left-wing activists and medical institutions are targeting America’s children with dangerous drugs, disfiguring surgeries, and permanent sterilization,” said Greene. “My bill stops the mutilation of kids and holds those responsible for performing or facilitating these barbaric procedures accountable.”

In January, President Donald Trump issued an order protecting children from chemical and surgical mutilation.

“Across the country today, medical professionals are maiming and sterilizing a growing number of impressionable children under the radical and false claim that adults can change a child’s sex through a series of irreversible medical interventions,” Trump’s order read. “This dangerous trend will be a stain on our Nation’s history, and it must end.”

“Accordingly, it is the policy of the United States that it will not fund, sponsor, promote, assist, or support the so-called ‘transition’ of a child from one sex to another, and it will rigorously enforce all laws that prohibit or limit these destructive and life-altering procedures,” the order declared.
