“It shall be in that day that I will seek to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem.”
—Zechariah 12:9
The nations are in turmoil. The headlines testify to it daily: war, economic collapse, social unrest, and spiritual confusion. But behind every earthly tremor, there is a divine shaking—a move of God that is realigning history according to His eternal purposes. As the world watches Iran falter, China weaken, and Israel rise, we must discern the times. These are not merely geopolitical shifts—they are prophetic signals.
Iran, the chief supplier of 90% of China’s oil, is collapsing under the weight of divine judgment and internal decay. For decades, Hezbollah, Hamas, and the Houthis have functioned as Iranian proxies, funneling terror and hatred toward Israel and the United States. These terror networks have depended on Iran’s funding and ideology. But now, the axis of evil is unraveling. The nations that have set themselves against Jerusalem are finding themselves under the scrutiny of the Almighty. God is not indifferent—He is intervening.
The Tipping Point Has Come
In biblical prophecy, a tipping point marks the moment when momentum becomes irreversible—when the convergence of events collides with God’s ordained timeline. We are now at such a moment. As Haggai 2:6 declares, “I will shake heaven and earth, the sea and dry land; and I will shake all nations, and they shall come to the Desire of All Nations.” This global shaking is not random—it is purposeful.
Why does Scripture say that “no man knows the day or the hour”? Perhaps it is because God, in His mercy, still honors the prayers of the righteous. He is not willing that any should perish (2 Peter 3:9), extending His grace as long as possible before unleashing full judgment. But grace is not without end. The season of delay is giving way to the season of fulfillment. The shaking has begun.
God’s “I Wills” – Haggai’s Prophetic Blueprint
The book of Haggai presents a series of divine declarations that are resonating once again in our day.
- “I will shake all nations” (2:7)
- “I will overthrow the throne of kingdoms” (2:22)
- “I will destroy the strength of the Gentile kingdoms” (2:22)
- “I will fill this temple with glory” (2:7)
These “I wills” are not suggestions. They are sovereign decrees. The kingdoms of this world—governments, corporations, militaries—are merely scaffolding for the eternal spiritual structure God is building. When the time is right, the scaffolding will be torn down. The global shaking is clearing the stage for one thing: the unveiling of the glory of the Lord.
The Mourning of a Nation
Zechariah 12:10 offers a haunting yet hopeful prophecy:
“Then they will look on Me whom they pierced. Yes, they will mourn for Him as one mourns for his only son.”
This is a promise of national repentance for Israel—a moment when spiritual eyes are opened, and the Messiah is finally recognized. But this principle applies broadly: God is bringing nations and individuals to their knees, not out of cruelty, but to birth a new revelation of Jesus. Pain is often the midwife of spiritual awakening.
We are witnessing birth pangs—both in the natural and in the spiritual. The wars, the economic disruptions, the political instability—these are contractions in the womb of history. Something new is being born. The old world order is dying; the Kingdom of God is arising.
Heavenly Realms Under Siege
Ephesians 6:12 reminds us that we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against “principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age.” These are not just earthly struggles—they are spiritual battles waged in heavenly realms. As Satan’s strongholds are being broken in the unseen realm, the ripple effects are visible in collapsing economies, failing governments, and exposed corruption.
Heaven is invading earth. As spiritual warfare intensifies above, physical shaking intensifies below. The natural and spiritual realms are linked. What happens in the heavenlies reshapes what we see on earth. This is not chaos—it is confrontation. And ultimately, it is conquest.
The Desire of the Nations
Haggai 2:7 speaks of “the Desire of All Nations”—a title for Christ Himself. All creation is groaning (Romans 8:22), waiting for redemption. Whether they know it or not, the people of every nation are yearning for a Deliverer. In the midst of war, they long for peace. In the confusion of ideologies, they crave truth. In the emptiness of materialism, they seek meaning. Only Jesus, the King of Kings, can satisfy these longings.
The prophetic shaking is not merely judgment—it is invitation. God is saying to the nations, “Come to Me, all you who are weary… and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28).
This Is the Last “Once More”
The writer of Hebrews echoes Haggai, saying:
“Yet once more I shake not only the earth, but also heaven… so that what cannot be shaken may remain” (Hebrews 12:26–27).
This is the last “once more.” This is not just another historical cycle. It is the final crescendo before Christ’s return. The shakings will intensify until only the unshakable remains. That unshakable Kingdom is not built by human hands—it is built by the hand of God, and it is coming soon.
So what must we do?
We must not fear the shaking—we must interpret it. We must not run from the fire—we must let it refine us. And we must not despair at the chaos—we must proclaim the King who calms every storm.
As the world trembles, the Church must rise.
As nations fall, the Kingdom stands.
And as the shaking increases, so too does the certainty: Jesus is coming.
“Lift up your heads, for your redemption draws near.” (Luke 21:28)
