President Donald Trump has rescinded a Biden-era executive order that protected gender clinics from federal investigations, marking a significant policy shift. The previous order, issued under President Joe Biden, aimed to shield healthcare providers offering gender-affirming treatments from government scrutiny. The Trump administration argues that such protections limited oversight and prevented accountability in transgender medical care.
Dr. Eithan Haim was the whistleblower who called out the Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston for performing gender-affirming care procedures on minors. “Under the Biden regime, the door for whistleblowers was closed. It was a complete inversion of the role of HHS, the role of our legal framework, because the criminal entities were being protected and the individuals exposing criminal entities were now the ones being targeted,” Haim stated.
The new directive enhances whistleblower protections for medical professionals raising concerns about gender-affirming procedures, particularly for minors. Trump officials assert that increased transparency is necessary to prevent unethical medical practices and ensure patient safety.
Haim went onto add: “The key thing with this new directive is that, as a healthcare provider, if a hospital or other doctors are participating in misconduct, if they’re lying about something, if they are intervening on patients in a way that is harmful to those patients – especially kids – as a doctor, it’s not only something you should do, it’s something you have to do.”
Conservatives and parental rights advocates applaud the decision as a step toward restoring medical integrity. Many argue that under Biden, gender clinics were allowed to push radical ideology over sound science. By rescinding these protections, Trump reinforces the importance of biological reality, parental rights, and responsible medical practices. This policy shift underscores the administration’s commitment to protecting children from dangerous medical experimentation.
