Gavin Newsom Would Have Done COVID-19 Restrictions ‘Differently’

California Governor Gavin Newsom (D) expressed regret for lengthy COVID-19 restrictions in an interview with NBC’s “Meet the Press.”

He and other officials “would’ve done everything differently,” Newsom said.

The interviewer asked the governor why he allowed the entertainment industry to remain open in California while being “tougher on those who just wanted to go worship,” as Newsome attempted to close churches during the pandemic.

“There’s a lot of humility. We didn’t know what we didn’t know,” Newsom stated.

“WHAT ABSOLUTE NONSENSE! Totally fake apology and under NO circumstances should he be forgiven for anything he did,” tweeted research scientist Dr. Houman David Hemmati.

Newsom added in the interview that criticism against the state’s lockdown measures is “legitimate, in terms of reflection.”

“Understanding the spread in the context of how it spread very differently indoors than outdoors is one perfect example of what a lot of us would have done differently,” he said, explaining how he would have acted differently.

Reporting from The Epoch Times:

Mr. Newsom faced a barrage of criticism for flouting his own restrictions during the lockdowns, including mingling maskless with California officials at a Napa restaurant in November 2020 or going to a restaurant in Fresno in February 2021 when in-person dining was banned.

Some commenters on social media said that Mr. Newsom's argument that officials were acting on the basis of the best available information at the time to impose restrictions doesn't hold water.
