Israeli actress Gal Gadot’s Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony was disrupted by anti-Israel protesters on Tuesday. About two dozen demonstrators arrived with Palestinian flags just moments before the ceremony was scheduled to begin. Despite their attempts to disrupt the event, Gadot received her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, a prestigious honor for actors and actresses worldwide.
Supporters of Gadot, some waving blue and white Israeli flags, lined Hollywood Boulevard before noon. Video captured by Variety showed at least one protester stealing an Israeli flag, leading to a brief altercation. Protesters chanted slogans such as, “Up up with liberation, down down with occupation,” and, “Not another nickel, not another dime, no more money for Israel’s crime.”
One protester, Roma Ealaicos, criticized Gadot, stating that the actress should have used her platform to speak out against Israel’s military actions. “There’s just no excuse,” Ealaicos said. “There’s no reason we should be celebrating an Israeli.”
Despite the disruptions, the crowd cheered as Gadot took the stage, wearing a white dress and a sleek bun. “This is a very surreal moment for me,” she said. “I’m just a girl from a town in Israel.” She added, “This star will remind me that with hard work and passion and some faith, anything is possible.”
Gadot will soon return to the big screen as the Evil Queen in Disney’s live-action Snow White. A former Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) soldier, she has been a vocal advocate for Israel. Earlier this month, she was honored at the Anti-Defamation League’s annual summit in New York City, where she condemned Hamas and spoke against the October 7 terror attacks.
The Los Angeles Police Department reported no arrests at the time of publication.
