Franklin Graham-Affiliated Ministry Launches Voting Guide for Christians

Decision Magazine, a Christian publication affiliated with the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, launched a voting guide ahead of the 2024 Presidential Election.

The guide explains that Christians have a “responsibility to vote for leaders whose views most closely align with God’s Word,” detailing the differences between the Democrat and Republican Party platforms.

Several of the topics discussed in the voting guide include freedom of religion, free speech, the sanctity of life, education, border security, and parental rights.

Much of the publication lists facts on how Kamala Harris and Donald Trump have approached the issues. For example, Harris “supports the Equality Act, which would criminalize employees, medical professionals, parents and organizations that hold Biblical views on sexuality,” whereas Trump issued a rule during his administration that protected “religious nonprofits from the Obama administration’s contraceptive mandate.”

When discussing free speech, the guide says Harris criticized conservatives for “banning books” sexual in nature while simultaneously urging tech companies to censor content in opposition to the leftist agenda. Trump’s administration, however, stood in support of Jack Phillips of Masterpiece Cakeshop, who did not create a custom cake that would celebrate a same-sex couple.

In its section on education, the guide says Harris “targeted” institutions with opposing beliefs, while the Republican platform has supported the right to pray and read the Bible in schools.

When approaching these decisive issues, faith-based voters should approach election seasons with discernment and obedience, the guide explains, encouraging Christians to engage with culture.

One article included in the guide states that Christians need to engage in politics because “government is appointed by God.”

“Government is God’s idea, and Christians should think about it and engage with it in a way that’s consistent with its God-ordained purposes,” the article says, adding, “If political parties and candidates don’t align perfectly with our values, the answer is not for Christians to retreat. If we fail to be the salt and light we’ve been called to be, we could clearly see America sink deeper into darkness.”

Earlier this month, Christian YouTuber Allen Parr encouraged fellow believers to reflect on their political views and ask themselves which political platform best reflects the Bible.

“When you place your vote, I don’t think we should be asking, ‘Does this party promote values that are biblical?’” Parr said.

“Because, as I’ve shared with you in this video, you could make an argument that both parties promote some biblical values,” he noted. “Rather, I think we need to be asking, ‘Which party is promoting values that are unbiblical, that directly go against the scriptures and against a Christian biblical worldview?’”
