Fox Weatherman Saves Woman Stuck in Car from Floodwaters

Fox Weather Meteorologist Bob Van Dillen rescued a woman trapped in her car from the floodwaters.

Van Dillen, reporting Hurricane Helene’s impact in Atlanta, Georgia, heard a woman cry for help and waded to the car to rescue her.

“I just put the microphone down and called 911,” he said. “I know that those guys are swamped, so we waited about five minutes. She was getting panicked a little bit more because the water was coming up a little bit higher.”

The water reached Van Dillen’s chest.

“Her husband picked her up, and she’s all good,” Van Dillen said after the woman was safe. “But the story now turns not on me, but it turns to how much flooding we’ve seen. I mean … amazing amounts coming in.”

Van Dillen remained humble after his act of bravery, insisting that anyone in his position would have made the effort to rescue the woman.

“I unbuckled her seat belt, pulled her out, and put her on my back, and she’s fine,” the reporter said. “Everything worked out fine. Here for a reason.”

Van Dillen told Fox News after the rescue that the woman was “in shock.”

“She was cold, shivering, so I gave her one of my shirts,” he said. The woman was taken to the news van to warm up.
