Former WH Press Secretary Claims She’s No Longer a Democrat

Former White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre announced that she has left the Democratic Party to become an Independent.

The announcement was made alongside her new book, “Independent: A Look Inside a Broken White House, Outside the Party Lines,” scheduled to be released in October 2025.

“Since I left The White House on my final day as The White House Press Secretary this past January, rarely a day goes by that I’m not stopped in the supermarket, at my daughter’s school, at the bank, in an airport, or in my neighborhood to be asked for my perspective, opinion, or insight about the state of our country and what we must do to preserve our democracy,” Jean-Pierre said in a statement. “Until January 20, I was responsible for speaking on behalf of the President of the United States. At noon on that day, I became a private citizen who, like all Americans and many of our allies around the world, had to contend with what was to come next for our country. I determined that the danger we face as a country requires freeing ourselves of boxes.”

“We need to be willing to exercise the ability to think creatively and plan strategically,” she said. “We need to be clear-eyed and questioning, rather than blindly loyal and obedient as we may have been in the past. And freeing ourselves of boxes is truly at the heart and soul of my new book, Independent.”

The book’s synopsis claims that Jean-Pierre “didn’t come to her decision to be an Independent lightly.” It adds that the text takes readers “through the three weeks that led to Biden’s abandoning his bid for a second term and the betrayal by the Democratic Party that led to his decision.”

A former White House official who worked with Jean-Pierre said her shift away from the Democratic Party can be explained by “money.”

“It’s just very confusing for the person who was the face of an entire Democratic administration to then leave the Democrats as a whole,” the source told the New York Post.
