Former Republican Congressman Mike Rogers announced that he is again running for a U.S. Senate seat, hoping to replace retiring Democrat Senator Gary Peters.
Rogers declared in his announcement video that he will “stand with President Trump, and we will deliver on the mandate given to him by the American people.”
He noted that Michigan has been “represented by two-faced politicians who say they’re moderates but vote as radicals when they get elected,” a cycle that he stated “ends now.”
“For me, it will always be America and Michigan first, rewarding hard work and investing in the skilled trades, cutting wasteful spending, lowering the costs of gas, groceries, and prescription drugs,” he added. “Alongside President Trump, I’ll fight to bring good, high-paying manufacturing jobs back to Michigan, and I guarantee we’ll protect Social Security for our seniors.”
National Republican Senatorial Committee Chairman Tim Scott (R-SC) endorsed Rogers.
“Mike will always put Michigan first, fight for the needs of working families, and stand up to communist China,” Scott wrote on social media. “Michigan is a battleground state, and with @MikeRogersForMI as our candidate, I know we will add this seat to President Trump’s Senate Majority in 2026.”
Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD) also threw his support behind Rogers, calling him the “proven conservative leader that Michigan needs in the U.S. Senate.”
“He will help us deliver on President Trump’s America First agenda and work to bring manufacturing & good-paying jobs back to Michigan,” Thune wrote on X.
Rogers ran in 2024 to replace now-retired Democratic Sen. Debbie Stabenow but lost to Sen. Elissa Slotkin (D).
