Former California State Senate Leader Leaves Democratic Party

Former California Democrat State Senate leader Gloria Romero announced that she left the Democratic Party.

Romero served in the California State Senate from 1998 to 2010.

“Today, I say goodbye. Adios. I’ve had enough. I am now another near lifelong Democrat who is joining the growing number of people, including key groups like Latinos, who are leaving the Democratic Party,” she said. “This is not the Democratic Party that I once championed. I do not recognize it anymore, and I cannot continue.”

“I changed my voting registration today as the sun was rising to Republican, which has, under Donald Trump, become the champion of working people, the big tent,” she noted.

“And indeed, I will vote for Donald Trump this fall.”

Romero told Fox News that her party shift has been a “long time coming.”

She explained the Democratic Party has moved “so far to the left.”

“It’s been the party to march towards war, towards censorhip, towards authoritarianism.”

California Rep. Kevin Kiley (R) celebrated Romero’s shift, declaring on X, “A coalition for common sense is emerging in California.”
