FBI Supervisor Reveals ‘Politically Connected’ Informant Related to Hunter Biden Case

A retired FBI supervisor has informed Congress that the bureau had a “politically connected” informant linked to the Hunter Biden case.

QUICK FACTS:
  • Retired Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) supervisor Timothy Thibault, has revealed to Congress that the bureau’s Washington field office had a second “politically connected” informant providing information relevant to the Biden family investigation, but was asked to shut down the source near the election in 2020.
  • “It shocked me a bit because I’m, like, the purpose of – a confidential informant is to support a case,” Thibault told investigators.
  • House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan (R-OH) spearheaded getting Thibault for the interview as he investigates U.S. Attorney David Weiss for not following proper investigative procedures while probing Hunter Biden and his business dealings.
  • According to The New York Times, Thibault’s work with the FBI shows his professionalism to be non-partisan.
  • The Times indicated the former FBI supervisor “reeled in big names while investigating public corruption, sending two Democratic congressmen to prison and overseeing sensitive inquiries into the Clinton Foundation and the former governor of Virginia, Terry McAuliffe, another Democrat.”
  • Thibault claims he joined the bureau in the summer of 2020 and the following month learned about an FD-1023 report containing information relevant to the Hunter Biden investigation.
  • “Some time in September – and this is a recollection. The FBI did not allow me to go back and review a source file. Okay? I have a recollection of a 1023, which is a source report, raw source report, and of reviewing it and/or approving it,” Thibault told investigators.
  • “The reason why I say I approved it, sometimes it’s – it involved a sensitive source, I believe. Somehow I saw that source report,” he said. “And I believe I approved it. At the very least I reviewed it, I believe. To me, when I first saw it, it didn’t stick out.”
FORMER FBI AGENT TIM THIBAULT ON THE SECOND INFORMANT IN THE BIDEN CASE:

“He also said that that person was politically connected and partisan in his view and he was concerned about the source being on media platforms,” Thibault said.

BACKGROUND:
  • Earlier this month, emails obtained by The Heritage Foundation through a Freedom of Information Act request (FOIA) revealed the FBI and the DOJ lied about the FD-1023 form pertaining to a Biden family bribery scheme to The New York Times, whose false report was then given to David Weiss’ office.
  • According to the false Times story, Rudy Giuliani was the source of the corruption allegations against the Bidens.
  • A confidential human source was actually behind the allegations without any involvement from Giuliani.
  • One of the officials who sent the story to Weiss was Delaware U.S. Assistant Attorney Lesley Wolf, who was present during the original briefing for the FD-1023 form.
  • The information suggests Wolf knew the Times story was false but chose to send the report to Weiss.
  • Wolf then went on to spearhead an attempt to give Hunter Biden a plea deal that included broad immunity, possibly in an attempt to protect the president and his son from any more questions surrounding the FD-1023.
