FBI Seizes Document Allegedly Detailing Foreign Country’s Nuclear Capabilities in Mar-a-Lago Raid—Not Sensitive Enough Not to Leak to WaPo Though

A document revealing an unknown foreign country’s nuclear power was among those seized in the Mar-a-Lago raid, The Washington Post says.

QUICK FACTS:
  • Among the documents seized in the raid of Former President Trump’s Mar-a-Lago was information about a foreign country’s nuclear and military capabilities, The Washington Post (WaPo) reported.
  • The documents, which did not disclose the country, were so sensitive they required special access on a “need-to-know” basis.
  • According to the report, the information was so secretive that only the president and very few cabinet officials were aware of what it contained.
  • However, the FBI apparently didn’t find the information too sensitive to leak to WaPo.
PRESIDENT TRUMP ON THE MAR-A-LAGO RAID:

“All American Patriots know that I always do everything ‘by the book’ and that this Hoax will fail miserably,” the former president said.

BACKGROUND:
  • Last week, the Department of Justice (DOJ) released a detailed inventory list of the items seized from former President Donald Trump’s residence.
  • A total of 54 documents marked “Secret,” 18 documents marked “Top Secret,” and 31 documents marked “Confidential” were reportedly found.
  • The list of documents was released after a heavily redacted affidavit was made public the week prior, which showed the main concern to the DOJ was that Trump was potentially housing the classified documents in an insecure way.
