FBI Created ‘Illusion’ of National Turmoil With Jan 6 Using ‘Manipulative’ Tactics: Whistleblower

“It is a grave disservice to the victims of child sexual abuse and other crimes that do not advance the FBI leadership’s political agenda,” says Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH).

QUICK FACTS:
  • A whistleblower revealed to Representative Jim Jordan (R-OH) that the FBI is “manipulating” files corresponding to the January 6 riot with the intent to convince Americans that domestic violence extremism (DVE) is a national problem.
  • The purpose of this effort is to create the “illusion” that there have been more incidents of DVE cases at the hands of Trump supporters, specifically during the January 6th riot.
  • The investigations into January 6 have been described as a “witch hunt” by Donald Trump and several Republicans.
  • FBI Director Christopher Wray released a statement on August 4, saying, “The top domestic terrorism threat we face continues to be from DVEs…including those who advocate for the superiority of the white race, who were the primary source of lethal attacks perpetrated by DVEs in recent years.”
  • “The number of FBI investigations of suspected DVEs has more than doubled since the spring of 2020,” Wray continued, but failing to mention that a large portion of these cases come from reclassified materials from closed investigations and January 6-affiliated documents.
REP. JORDAN’S LETTER TO CHRISTOPHER WRAY:
  • “The whistleblower alleged ‘the FBI has not followed regular procedure’ with respect to January 6 cases,” Jordan stated in the letter.
  • Instead of local offices managing specific geographical cases, the Washington Field Office (WFO) is “actually running the investigation” and “approving ‘all of the investigative work and paperwork for the casefile.’”
  • “The FBI is deliberately manipulating the way case files related to January 6 investigations are maintained in order to create a false and misleading narrative that domestic violent extremism is increasing around the country,” Jordan stated.
  • “The FBI’s case categorization creates the illusion that threats from DVE are present in jurisdictions across the nation,” Jordan explained, “when in reality they all stem from the same related investigation concerning the actions at the Capitol on January 6.”
  • Jordan also addressed the whistleblower’s recollection of “being ‘told that child sexual abuse material investigations were no longer an FBI priority and should be referred to local law enforcement agencies,'” saying “it is a grave disservice to the victims of child sexual abuse and other crimes” to be put off simply because they do not “advance the FBI leadership’s political agenda.”
BACKGROUND:
  • Whistleblowers previously informed Rep. Jordan that agents were incentivized to reclassify closed cases as DVE to satisfy their superiors and be awarded a promotion.
  • Jordan said there were now fourteen whistleblowers who have come forward with the politicization of the FBI.
  • The number greatly increased following the Mar-a-Lago raid, as just two months before, there were only six known whistleblowers.
