The Philadelphia Eagles are moving to remove posters that claim the team endorses Kamala Harris for president.
The poster, depicting Harris in an Eagles uniform, falsely claims that she is the “official candidate of the Philadelphia Eagles.” The ad then directs fans to the team’s voting information page.
In response to the fake endorsement, the team called the political ad a “counterfeit” on X.
“We are aware counterfeit political ads are being circulated and are working with our advertising partner to have them removed,” they wrote.
According to Fox29 reporter Steve Keeley, the posters are owned by the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA).
“The bus shelters are owned by the city. So far, we have not heard anything about ads like this appearing on SEPTA property,” a SEPTA spokesman said.
Ad company Intersection Media said in a statement that it is “aware that several of our bus shelters located in Philadelphia have been vandalized & that the advertising copy in each of these shelters has been replaced with unauthorized copy.”
“The unauthorized copy in this case implies an endorsement of Vice President Kamala Harris by the Philadelphia Eagles. We note that the Eagles and Intersection had nothing to do with the creation or posting of this unauthorized copy and Intersection staff will be removing the ads as soon as possible.”
