European Countries Look to Build Up Borders

Several European countries are looking to establish strong borders in an apparent contrast to the Biden administration’s border policy.

Poland, Ukraine, Finland, Norway, and the Baltic States are creating a “drone wall” against Russia.

“There is no question whether this is necessary, as even the smallest drones have already proven their worth as reconnaissance and offensive weapons,” Estonian Interior Minister Lauri Läänemets said.

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk wrote on X that he will defend the border “with all available means.”

“The Army, Border Guard and Police can count on my full support. I am impressed by your courage, professionalism and dedication,” Tusk noted.

Poland will also reportedly construct “70 meter high observation towers, reinforce the wall, buy more drones, lights and cameras as well as building an asphalted road along the border wall,” Visegrád 24 reported in March.

The border wall is 5.5 meters high, or about 18 feet.

Chad Wolf, the former acting deputy director of Homeland Security Deputy, and Robert Law, the former Citizenship and Immigration Services policy chief, wrote in a recent brief that European countries are adopting an “‘America First’ style’ of border security efforts.

“While the Biden Administration’s self-inflicted border crisis has received growing media attention in the U.S., most Americans may be unaware that Europe has also seen an increase in unlawful migration over the past few years,” the former Trump administration officials explained.

“A growing number of EU countries have finally recognized that mass illegal immigration is harmful to their countries and are taking measures similar to those implemented in Hungary over the last decade and advocated for by [America First Policy Institute],” Wolf and Law added.

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban passed border security laws and constructed physical barriers to curb illegal immigration after objecting to the European Union’s mass migration issues.
