Elon Musk Concludes Government Role

Elon Musk has concluded his role in the government as head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).

“As my scheduled time as a Special Government Employee comes to an end, I would like to thank President @realDonaldTrump for the opportunity to reduce wasteful spending,” Musk wrote on social media. “The @DOGE mission will only strengthen over time as it becomes a way of life throughout the government.”

“The work DOGE has done to eliminate government waste and corruption — the rot embedded deep within Washington — is among the most valuable services ever rendered to government. And the work has only just begun,” White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller said in response to Musk’s statement.

House Speaker Mike Johnson has also announced a strategy to implement DOGE spending cuts after they were excluded from legislation. Miller explained that DOGE cuts “would have to be done through what is known as a rescissions package or an appropriations bill.”

According to DOGE’s website, the group has saved an estimated $175 billion, amounting to $1,086.96 per taxpayer.

President Donald Trump announced the development of DOGE in November, writing at the time that Elon Musk and Vivek Ramswamy would “pave the way for my Administration to dismantle Government Bureaucracy, slash excess regulations, cut wasteful expenditures, and restructure Federal Agencies — Essential to the ‘Save America’ Movement.”

Trump declared that the agency would become, “potentially, ‘The Manhattan Project’ of our time.”

Ramaswamy later departed from DOGE to focus on his run for Ohio governor.
