In a recent announcement at his Mar-a-Lago estate, former President Donald Trump declared that he has consented to participate in three debates across different networks in September, pending confirmation from Vice President Kamala Harris.
Trump plans to engage in a Fox News debate on September 4, another debate hosted by ABC on September 10, and a third on NBC on September 25, which he notes is almost fully agreed upon, save for a few details.
Trump noted during his announcement that discussions with network executives have solidified these debates, with only “minor details” remaining unresolved. However, he pointed out that the final agreement depends on the Harris campaign’s acceptance of the terms. He expressed skepticism about Harris’s willingness and ability to participate, commenting on her lack of interviews and questioning her competence.
Furthermore, Trump criticized Harris for her handling of the border crisis during her vice presidency and her early withdrawal from the 2020 Democratic primaries. He also made a controversial claim that Joe Biden’s presidential rights were unfairly revoked, suggesting that Biden was treated unjustly by being removed from the presidential race.
Trump’s remarks came after indicating last week his openness to debating Harris while also mentioning a possibility of withdrawing. His critique extended to the Democratic Party’s decision-making process, lamenting the absence of a primary contest or vote before Harris assumed Biden’s position after his exit from the race on July 21.
Since then, Harris, alongside her running mate, Gov. Tim Walz of Minnesota, has been actively campaigning across seven key battleground states, despite not holding any major interviews or press conferences.
