Pressure is mounting on Democrat National Committee (DNC) Chair Ken Martin to resign following a profane and politically damaging post targeting President Donald Trump. The backlash stems from a DNC response to Trump’s remarks about the fragile Iran-Israel ceasefire, during which he criticized both sides for renewed attacks.
While addressing reporters Tuesday, Trump confirmed that Iran and Israel had both breached the recently brokered ceasefire. He expressed frustration with Israel’s early morning strikes and Iran’s retaliatory missile launches, saying, “We basically have two countries that have been fighting so long and so hard that they don’t know what the [expletive] they’re doing.”
Shortly after, the DNC escalated the situation with a vulgar post on social media: “So then why the [expletive] did you get us involved?”—a direct attack on Trump’s decision to launch a successful U.S. strike on three Iranian nuclear sites days earlier.
The post has ignited calls within the Democratic Party for Martin’s resignation. A senior Democratic strategist told Breitbart News, “Ken Martin needs to step down,” citing the unprofessional and inflammatory rhetoric under his leadership.
Martin, who took over the DNC in February, has struggled to unite a fractured party still reeling from significant 2024 electoral losses and financial strain. According to Breitbart, the DNC has increasingly relied on profane language in campaign messaging—an approach critics say is backfiring.
Tensions escalated over the weekend when President Trump announced a “complete and total ceasefire” between Iran and Israel following 12 days of conflict. However, the Israel Defense Force (IDF) confirmed that Iran violated the ceasefire just hours later by launching a series of missile attacks, including one that killed four civilians in Be’er Sheva.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu released a timeline of the violations and confirmed that, at Trump’s request, Israel halted additional strikes after a radar facility near Tehran was destroyed. The Israeli government’s cooperation with the Trump administration underscores the former president’s diplomatic influence, despite escalating provocations from Iran.
The DNC’s choice to respond to this complex and sensitive international crisis with crude language has sparked internal dissent and added to growing concerns about its leadership under Martin.
