DeSantis to Fundraise for Trump Campaign: Report

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) is reportedly planning to fundraise for Donald Trump’s presidential campaign.

Sources familiar with the matter told NBC News that the announcement was made during a private event.

“He did say it in front of a group of people at the Hard Rock,” a DeSantis adviser said.

Texas businessman Roy Bailey, formerly a co-chair of DeSantis’ national finance advisory board, stated, “I will follow the governor’s lead and I will do anything that he or President Trump ask me to do to help him win this election,” adding, “I know where there are DeSantis supporters all over Texas and all over the country that will want to help President Trump. So that’s what I’ll try to make happen.”

According to The National Pulse, Trump responded to DeSantis’ plans by saying, “Today, I heard very nice things. I heard he’s going to campaign very hard for me. And he’s going to raise a lot of money for me. Ron, we like you. Welcome back.”

After dropping out of the presidential race in January, DeSantis said, “[GOP voters] watch his presidency gets stymied by relentless resistance, and they see Democrats using lawfare to this day to attack him.”

“While I’ve had disagreements with Donald Trump, such as on the coronavirus pandemic and his elevation of Anthony Fauci, Trump is superior to the current incumbent Joe Biden. That is clear. I signed a pledge to support the Republican nominee and I will honor that pledge. He has my endorsement because we can’t go back to the old Republican Guard of yesteryear, a repackaged form of warmed-over corporatism that Nikki Haley represents.”
