Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is calling for doctors who provide gender-conforming surgeries to be sued.

“They talk about these very young kids getting ‘gender-affirming care,’” said DeSantis. “But they don’t tell you what that is.”
BACKGROUND:
- At the end of last week, the Florida Board of Medicine discussed a proposal from DeSantis’ administration that would ban physicians from providing treatments to transgender children.
- The petition proposes a “standard of care” that would prohibit patients under the age of 18 from receiving reassignment surgery and puberty-blocking hormone treatments.
