Department of the Interior Reads Diversity Poem

Daily Wire host Matt Walsh obtained a video showing federal employees reciting a “diversity” poem.

The incident occurred during the agency’s “2023 Ally Awards,” where employees were recognized for their support of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives.

Following the awards, a presenter said, “Now we would like to share a poem entitled ‘I am Diversity.’ It really resonates with us and it incorporates a lot of the themes we learned about this week.”

The employees recited, “I’m present in every place you go. Depending on your lens, I’m friend or foe. I’m a force to be reckoned with. Like the winds of change…I move. I’m swift.”

Don’t exclude me…due to a lack of knowledge. Welcome me like the recruit fresh out of college. Let me take a seat at the table, even though I may be differently able,” the poem adds.

“I exclude no one I am strengthened by all. My name is Diversity and yes I stand tall,” another line reads.

“I’m the solution that came from the odd question that was asked. I stand out in the crowd when I, Diversity, am allowed to be unmasked. I’m Diversity embrace me and we’ll journey far. I’m Diversity include me and we will reach the shining star. Coupled with Inclusion our lights burn longer. Together we are smarter, better, and stronger. I am Diversity. Yes, that’s me,” the poem concludes.

In 2021, President Joe Biden signed an executive order “to advance diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility (DEIA) in the Federal workforce.”

“Even with decades of progress building a Federal workforce that looks like America, the enduring legacies of employment discrimination, systemic racism, and gender inequality are still felt today,” the order states. “Too many underserved communities remain under-represented in the Federal workforce, especially in positions of leadership. This Executive Order establishes an ambitious, whole-of-government initiative that will take a systematic approach to embedding DEIA in Federal hiring and employment practices.”
